Chapter 485: - Golem’s Temporary Ownership
"I heard you once again caused big trouble for everyone. Is that right, Mr. Broken?" Elincia teased.
"I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, just the same as the others. They attacked even
when I was logged out," Broken replied casually. "So, I guess my reputation is slowly becoming worse, huh?"
Elincia giggled again. "Well, I hope you come back with stories about the amazing things you'll see in their world," she said.
"Yes," Broken nodded.
"And besides," Elincia added, "a fae's residence is bound to have hidden treasures or challenges that could be worth your while." She gave him a playful wink. "Just try not to stir up too much trouble while you're there."
Broken let out a chuckle. "I'll try my best, but no promises.
Seeing Elincia arrive so quickly indicated that she had moved immediately after hearing about the massive monster attack on Maylock and the others. Considering the distance from Slumdon and the path through the dense forest to reach this spot, it was clear she had made a relentless, nonstop journey. Thanks to her flying ability, which seemingly wasn't limited by Mana regeneration like Polly's, she had managed the feat without issue.
They continued chatting for a while, catching up on recent events, until more of their awaited companions finally arrived.
In the distance, Kingsley's form could be seen-he was in his panther shape, moving swiftly through the forest, with Melliandra riding on his back. Kingsley approached at full speed, stopping suddenly as he reached the group. Melliandra quickly dismounted, and in a fluid motion, Kingsley transformed back into his human form.
The realization of what they'd both endured struck Broken-Kingsley and Melliandra had traveled all the way from Slumdon, spending the entire night and much of the day in transit. It must have been a long, exhausting journey, not just physically but also mentally. For Kingsley, who had to remain in his beast form for such an extended period, it must have been particularly tiring, while Melliandra had to endure the monotony of riding through the forest for hours on end.
"Good to see you made it safely," Broken greeted them.
"Good to see you and the others are alright, Broken," Kingsley said, bowing slightly.
Melliandra, however, wasted no time before voicing her frustration. "What kind of joke is this, Elincia? Why did I have to come all the way here just to babysit those worthless knights? We should've just let them fend for themselves!"
Maylock smirked and chimed in, "You also invested quite a bit of your own money to pay their salaries, didn't you, Melliandra? So it's only fair you make sure your investment doesn't go to waste."
"I don't care about that! I hate dealing with things like this, especially when it's for him!" Melliandra pointed her finger at Broken. "He's a troublemaker, a pervert!"
"You could always take advantage of the trip and hunt monsters here," Broken suggested to her. "There are plenty around, and their levels are high. You'd enjoy it."
Melliandra glared at him. "Don't talk to me!"
"Melliandra," Ivana said, her face beaming with a friendly smile, "did you hear? Polly has wings now-she can fly!"
Melliandra's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Where is Polly?!" she demanded, then turned her attention back to Broken. "If you want me to protect those knights, you better bring Polly out here!"
Broken, seemingly unfazed by her demands, turned to Maylock and Elincia instead. "I guess I'll leave the rest to you guys."
Maylock nodded casually. "Leave everything to us. Just enjoy your expedition, Broken."
Elincia added, "No need to worry. I'm just looking forward to the end result of your next big quest."
Broken nodded, giving them a grateful smile, and began to walk away. Behind him, Melliandra's exasperated voice rang out.
"Broken! Where is Polly?! Don't ignore me, you dumbass-I swear I'll kill you!"
At that moment, Polly appeared close to Broken, trotting up beside him before suddenly expanding in size. Two magnificent wings unfurled from her back, and she glanced over at Melliandra, her tails swaying gently.
Broken patted Polly's head, a sly smile on his face. "This young lady here wants to play with you, Polly. You're free to refuse if you don't feel like it," he said, before turning and heading towards Ivana.
"Shut up, Broken!" Melliandra shouted. But when her eyes fell on Polly, her demeanor instantly changed. "Woah... Polly... you're so cute. Those wings... they're absolutely beautiful... ahhh..."
For a few moments, Melliandra enjoyed riding Polly, who hovered effortlessly above the ground.
"And Broken..." Elincia then called to him, her gaze shifting to a large black figure sitting not far from them. It was the golem, its massive gorilla-like form resting on the ground.
"Ah... yes..." Broken nodded, understanding her unspoken question. "The Golem can take commands from me, and can set it to follow one of you if needed. In fact, someone could even enter and control the golem from inside, if they wanted."
"Then let me take the golem with me," Maylock spoke up, drawing the attention of the others.
Elincia raised an eyebrow, her expression suspicious. "You're not planning anything strange with the golem, are you, Maylock?"
"No, no worries," Maylock replied flatly. "I'm just in the process of earning Broken's full trust, so rest assured that the gorilla golem will be safe with me."
"Alright, thanks then," Broken said with a slight smile. "I'll set the temporary ownership of the golem to you. But remember, I can still summon it from afar if I need it."
Maylock nodded in acknowledgment, and with that settled, they continued preparing for their journey.
Once everyone was comfortable with their respective plans, Broken, along with Ivana, moved away from the group and approached the faeries who were waiting for them.
To his surprise, only three faeries remained: Morel, Cedric, and Cecilia. Where had the others
gone?
"So, you have decided?" Morel asked.
"Yes," Broken replied casually.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Morel gave a polite bow before signaling for them to follow him.
