Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion

Chapter 135 Successful rescue

"What's the princess of Sunset City doing here?" Blazing Queen asked with a grim expression.

"The question we should be asking is why. She has been poisoned," Darklord replied, as the shock on Blazing Queen's face increased.

"Wait... poisoned? I don't remember her being poisoned," Blazing Queen said, pondering.

"Well, she is about to be assassinated," Darklord said, causing both Blazing Queen and Celestial Lady to gasp in shock, not understanding what he meant.

"Where are the assassins, and what are you guys talking about? A princess? Why is she being assassinated?" Celestial Lady asked, shocked.

"Listen, Celestial Lady, we might say some things that you don't understand. Don't worry about it—just follow our lead, okay? The less you know, the safer you are," Blazing Queen said, walking to Celestial Lady and placing her hand on her shoulder.

"But I'm feeling left out," Celestial Lady said, pouting cutely.

"You are with us now," Darklord said, smiling lightly.

"Okay," Celestial Lady replied.

"That means today must be the day they will kill her," Blazing Queen said, but Darklord shook his head.

"It isn't today... it's tonight," Darklord corrected.

"But how did you know?" Blazing Queen asked. This was the first time they had seen the princess, and they didn't know if she came here on some occasion, so they couldn't just say she would die today.

"Blazing Queen, she is poisoned and her health is low. She will probably be dead by tomorrow or the day after. I checked her stats. If they don't take the chance now, she will die from poisoning, which will defeat the whole purpose of their plan. Besides, I think she was raped too, to confirm the lie that she lost her chastity to a foreign man," Darklord analyzed.

"That might be true," Blazing Queen nodded.

"That's cruel," Celestial Lady said with a sad expression.

"That's just how the world is. So, get stronger so you won't be like her," Darklord said with a slight smile.

"Nah, I have a strong brother, heheh," Celestial Lady said with a light laugh.

"Yeah, yeah, but I won't always be around," Darklord said.

"I know, I know," Celestial Lady said with a smile, her eyes betraying her smile as she pondered deeply. No one knew what she was thinking.

"So, what is your plan?" Blazing Queen asked.

"We're not leaving this inn. We'll try to help. Firstly, we don't know when the assassins will strike. We haven't even seen them yet, so all we can do is be on the lookout. The next thing to do is to use our inspection skill on everyone we see tonight to find the assassins. If our levels aren't too low, we'll try to save the princess. If not, we'll make enough noise for the guards to notice us," Darklord said, explaining his plan as Blazing Queen listened calmly.

"What if they're weaker than we thought?" Blazing Queen asked.

"We kill them. After all, we all know where they're from, and I have enough proof to show that they're from Blazing City," Darklord said with a grin.

Evening came quickly, and the beautiful scenery that all tourists came to see began. Outside, on the roof, three beings were looking at it.

"It's so beautiful," Celestial Lady said with watery eyes.

"Yes, it is," Blazing Queen replied, as they both looked at the stunning sunset and the beautiful city.

At their side, Darklord looked around, scanning different corners.

"Found you," Darklord said with a smirk as he focused on a particular place. He could see some irregular human shadows moving in an alleyway.

"Brother, this is so peaceful," Celestial Lady said.

"Yes, it is," Darklord replied with a smile, joining them to admire the famous scenery. "But this night isn't going to be peaceful," he thought to himself, smiling coldly.

11:00 PM...

One hour left for the new day, and this was when the assassins made their move.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"They're here," Blazing Queen signaled as Darklord took a deep breath. Beside him stood his sister, with an anxious expression on her face.

Holding her hand, Darklord whispered, "It will be fine." Hearing her brother's voice comforted Celestial Lady as she nodded.

"We can do this, Darklord. They're all Rank E, level 16. Even Celestial Lady's overall stats are stronger than theirs," Blazing Queen said with a smile.

"Good, let's move out," Darklord said as the three of them left their room.

Outside, in the hall, a dozen men in hoodies appeared around a particular room.

"Is this the room of the princess?" one of the men asked.

"Yes, let's make this quick. I have to get back to the kids," another man said, as the rest chuckled.

Opening the door, they found the princess sleeping with furrowed eyebrows. She was in pain, her brow furrowing.

With a swift motion, one of them drew a knife and went for the neck.

"Let me put an end to your misery," the man said, and blood splattered out.

A body fell to the ground, headless.

A head flew in a parabolic arc, landing in one of the men's hands.

"AAH!" the man shouted, throwing the head away in fright after realizing it was his partner's.

"Finish this quickly," Darklord commanded, unwilling to prolong the battle. In this room, they had the advantage due to the confined space limiting the assassins' ability to fully utilize their speed.

Nine Heavenly Step… Displacement.

Darklord and Celestial Lady activated their skills, and a massacre ensued.

Meanwhile, Blazing Queen tapped the princess lightly.

The princess's eyes fluttered open, revealing a beautiful but frowning face staring back at her.

"Who… who are you?" the princess asked in shock.

"I'm here to rescue you," Blazing Queen replied.

Just then, a loud scream echoed, drawing the princess's attention. She turned her head and froze, witnessing a severed hand flying through the air as blood splattered around the room.

Blazing Queen sighed, seeing the terror in the princess's eyes. Without wasting time, she scooped the princess into her arms and swiftly carried her outside.

In a few strides, they were out of the building.

"The princess is under attack!" Blazing Queen shouted, alerting the guards. Explore stories on empire

The inn erupted into chaos as citizens—both young and old—scrambled out of their rooms to see what was happening.

When the guards arrived, they immediately knelt before the princess.

"My princess!" they cried in unison. The princess clung to Blazing Queen, trembling with fear.

"It's fine. It's all over, Princess," Blazing Queen assured her.

The princess hesitantly stepped away from Blazing Queen and turned to face the guards.

"Princess, what happened to you?" one of the guards asked solemnly.

"Stand up," the princess ordered weakly, and the guards obeyed.

Shizzz… Vroom, Vroom…

Darklord and Celestial Lady appeared beside them.

"Is it done?" Blazing Queen asked.

"It's over," Darklord replied, handing a crest to the guards.

"The crest of the Blazing City… How could they?" the guard muttered angrily.

"Thank you, all three of you. Without your intervention, our princess would have been lost," the guard said, bowing in gratitude.

"It's nothing, but take her to a healer immediately. She's been poisoned," Darklord said as the princess suddenly collapsed.

"Princess! Princess!"

The guards shouted in panic while the surrounding crowd murmured in shock.

"Please, come with us. The king would like to meet those who saved the princess," one of the guards requested.

Darklord nodded, signaling Blazing Queen and Celestial Lady to follow. Together, the trio accompanied the guards to the palace deep within the city. Meanwhile, other guards began scouring the inn for clues and evidence.

As they departed, one of the guards murmured angrily, "How dare the Blazing City do this? They've practically declared war on us."

He barked orders to the remaining guards to search the city for any lingering assassins.

Blazing City…

This city was known for its stunning views of sunlight, perpetually bathed in a golden glow. The heat lingered longer here than in other regions, earning it the name "Blazing City."

Interior of the Palace…

In an awe-inspiring room, a young and handsome man sipped red wine leisurely.

Behind him stood a man dressed in a prestigious butler's uniform, adorned with a sun-shaped crest on his chest—the symbol of the Blazing City.

"They should be back by now. Did something go wrong?" the young man asked, setting his wine glass down.

The butler hesitated before responding, his face turning grave.

Suddenly, a bird flew in through the open window, landing before them. The butler's expression darkened further as he read the message tied to its leg.

Seeing his butler's silence, the young man's calm demeanor shifted.

"What happened? Did something go wrong?" he asked again, his voice steady but laced with curiosity.

"Yes, my prince," the butler replied, trembling slightly. "The assassins… they're all dead."
