Black Tortoise God of War

Chapter 12

C12 – Special Nurturing

The Fifth Elder was inwardly shaken. This young man had been practicing the South Bear Skill for less than a month.

He vividly recalled Chu Yangxiang’s first day at the Training Hall, where he had mastered both the South Bear Fist and the South Bear Skill.

Typically, a beginner would need about ten days to fully store Profound Power within a single meridian. Consequently, the best result among the first eighty-nine participants was having Profound Power fill four meridians.

If being a genius was the benchmark, then Chu Yangxiang had far outstripped it. In a mere three days, he managed to infuse a meridian with Profound Power, a testament to his astonishing Cultivation Speed and his almost unbelievable dedication to training.

The Fifth Elder declared, “He has reached the Peak of Profound Warrior One-star and is on the cusp of entering the realm of Profound Warrior Two-star.”

His proclamation resonated with all who heard it. Chu Yangxiang had ascended to the Peak of Profound Warrior One-star in a single month, shattering all previously known records.

The assembly of Profound Warriors burst into applause.

“Bravo, the Chu Family has produced yet another prodigy.”

“Indeed, his Cultivation Speed has been an eye-opener for us all.”

“I’ve never before heard of anyone advancing their cultivation so rapidly.”

The crowd was abuzz with excitement, their gazes upon Chu Yangxiang filled with admiration. Their respect stemmed not only from his rapid advancement but also from the fact that he had achieved such progress in a month without the Chu Family’s resources.

Chu Xiaoxiang scoffed coldly, “Who’s to say there isn’t some trickery involved?”

Tears welled up in the eyes of Chu Tianwen and Hu Yewan; they alone knew the sheer amount of effort he had invested daily. This past month, he had scarcely slept a wink, dedicating himself to relentless cultivation day and night.

While others praised his natural talent, only they understood the extent of his hard work.

Chu Qingyong laughed heartily, addressing the crowd, “I’ve never witnessed such a gifted descendant in our Chu Family. As long as he passes, we will prioritize his development.”

The crowd was taken aback. The Patriarch had just stated that those who ranked in the top ten of the family contest in six months would earn focused training opportunities. Yet, Chu Yangxiang had merely demonstrated his Profound Power and had already secured a coveted spot for specialized training.

Everyone was marveling at the young man’s incredible fortune.

Chu Xiaoxiang remarked with a chill in his voice, “Who knows if he’s been secretly cultivating all along? It’s not fair.”

Chu Yangxiang felt a surge of joy upon hearing Chu Qingyong’s words. At the very least, it was clear that Chu Qingyong was fulfilling his duties as the Patriarch.

He wasn’t like some who would abruptly prevent him from using Barbarian Ox Blood. The Barbarian Ox, being a lowly Demonic Beast raised by the family, had blood from which he could no longer draw any energy.

For the past half-month, he had been cultivating solely with the sparse Profound Qi found between heaven and earth. He had never expected to be able to gradually absorb the essence of the Earth Element, a process that was exceedingly slow, yet immensely beneficial to him.

Moreover, there had been a new development in his Martial God Heavenly Technique. Chu Yangxiang realized that he hadn’t advanced to Level Two, but had made some deep progress within Level One.

This slight advancement might just be the deciding factor in his upcoming contest with Chu Guangxiang.

Chu Yangxiang approached the Talent Test Device with purpose.

All eyes were glued to the Talent Test Device, eager to see if Chu Yangxiang, who had already surprised them with his Profound Power cultivation, would deliver another shock during the talent assessment.

Chu Tixiang’s eyes sparkled with scorn. He had successfully colluded with the Third Elder, who had recently tampered with the device. His Two-star talent would certainly not show up on the Talent Test Device, ensuring his failure.

He was eager to witness Chu Yangxiang’s crestfallen look after the Talent Test went awry.

Chu Tixiang exchanged glances with Chu Xiaoxiang, both reveling in the other’s anticipated misfortune.

Chu Yangxiang simply couldn’t outmatch us.

Chu Yangxiang pressed his forehead against the Talent Test Device. The crowd watched intently as the light pillar of the device indicated talent: red for Grade 1, orange for Grade 2, and yellow for Grade 3.

Everyone was in suspense, wondering if Chu Yangxiang’s talent had grown.

As Chu Yangxiang’s forehead remained on the Talent Test Device, thirty breaths passed without a single sign of activity from the machine.

Chu Xiaoxiang sneered coldly, “Has Chu Yangxiang’s Martial Dao Talent vanished? Why else would the Talent Test Device show nothing? So much time has passed without a single indication from the device. We’re just wasting our time here.”

No one had ever heard of Martial Dao Talent disappearing, so doubt crept in. Yet, the Test Device remained silent.

“If he lacks talent, how could he possibly have reached the Peak Of Profound Warrior One-star?”

“Even with a One-star talent, the device should be flashing red by now.”

“There’s definitely an issue here, but we’re clueless about where the problem lies.”

Chu Yuexing rose to his feet, declaring, “We thought we had a Super Genius in the Chu Family, one we intended to support with all our might. But it seems he’s not as fortunate as we believed. So be it, I’ll only allocate him half the resources normally given to family members.”

Chu Tianwen and Hu Yewan were visibly distressed, their complexions turning ashen. It was like plummeting from the heavens.

Tears filled Hu Yewan’s eyes. “I refuse to believe that Chu Yangxiang is without talent.”

Chu Tianwen understood Hu Yewan’s fondness for Chu Yangxiang. Chu Yangxiang had dedicated himself to relentless cultivation for today’s test. How could he come to terms with such a setback?

“Fortune favors the bold. Don’t worry, things will turn around.”

The Third Elder looked on with disdain. “Chu Yangxiang, let’s conclude the test now.”

He was about to dismantle the Test Device when suddenly, a yellow light flickered.

“The Third Elder, please allow Chu Yangxiang another attempt,” Chu Qingyong interjected, his gaze piercing and his tone icy.

The Third Elder stepped forward but then hesitated and stepped back.

The yellow light shimmered and began to ascend. Now, it was clear to all—Chu Yangxiang possessed a Grade 3 Talent.

“I never imagined Chu Yangxiang would have a Grade 3 Talent. He’s bound to become a Martial General in the future.”

“Indeed, a Martial General can lead thousands of troops and earn glory for the nation.”

“Chu Yangxiang, you’ve done incredibly well.”

The glow intensified, the green column of light shining brightly. Everyone watched, eyes wide with amazement.

Thirty more breaths passed, but this time, no one complained about the duration. They were too captivated by the ascending light, hearts pounding with awe.

Chu Qingyong’s fists were clenched tightly as he declared, “Chu Yangxiang possesses a Grade 4 Talent. The Chu Family intends to cultivate his abilities with special attention.”
