Chapter 69
At 6 o'clock, Quan Zhisui's phone vibrated—her senior brother, Zi Yin, had come to pick her up!
She snapped out of her immersive studying and returned to reality.
The person who had been sitting in front of her was gone, and the classroom was empty except for her.
At her feet, there was a bulging bag containing the sweater from the morning, along with an extra pair of thermal pants.
Quan Zhisui stood still for three seconds, then walked out of the classroom without looking back.
She didn’t even touch the bag.
It had already been half an hour since school ended, and by the time Quan Zhisui walked out, there were hardly any people left at the school gate.
"Senior Brother!" She dashed over and threw herself into Zi Yin's arms.
Zi Yin hugged her and draped a thick coat over her school uniform. "I bought this this afternoon. Wear it for now, and we’ll go shopping after dinner."
"Okay!" Quan Zhisui smiled happily.
Zi Yin took her out for a big meal, shopping, and even some street food. They didn’t return to the hotel until 10 p.m.
The room had a king-sized bed, and tonight, she would sleep with her senior brother!
After taking a shower, Quan Zhisui burrowed into the blankets, yawning widely and clinging to Zi Yin's arm.
"Senior Brother, why did you bring this qin on the trip?" she asked, struggling to keep her eyes open.
It was an ancient qin from Shennong, which Zi Yin had carried all the way from Wudang Mountain.
Zi Yin patiently explained, "After the meeting, I’ll be heading to another city to provide sound therapy for a patient with depression."
But by the time he finished, there was no response. Zi Yin turned his head to see that Quan Zhisui had already fallen asleep.
She was exhausted, mentally.
Zi Yin smiled tenderly, his heart aching for her. He gently patted her back and stroked her hair.

At the Zuo Family residence.
Zuo Zichen didn’t play games today. As soon as he got home, he started waiting.
But by evening, and even late into the night, Quan Zhisui still hadn’t returned.
His mother wasn’t home either. Zhao Lin had just dropped him off when Xu Zhiyi, dressed to the nines, had Zhao Lin drive her out.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
As for Zuo Zhiyu, he hadn’t shown up for days.
Zuo Zichen sat on the stairs in the first-floor lobby, staring at his phone, waiting and waiting. Quan Zhisui hadn’t replied to a single message.
Where could she have gone?
By 2 a.m., Zuo Zichen was almost falling asleep when suddenly, the sound of the front door opening startled him awake.
He jumped up and rushed out, only to see Xu Zhiyi stumbling in, drunk.
Xu Zhiyi could barely walk straight. Her high heels nearly tripped her, and she cursed, kicking off her shoes and walking barefoot. She suddenly turned back, holding onto the doorway, and vomited into the yard.
Zuo Zichen hurried over to pat her back. "Mom, why did you drink so much?"
Xu Zhiyi pushed his hand away. "What do you expect when you go to a nightclub?"
Zuo Zichen’s expression darkened. "Mom, I don’t like you going to those places."
Xu Zhiyi whipped around, glaring at him. "What? Your father can go, but I can’t?!"
Zuo Zichen protested, "That’s not what I meant…"
Xu Zhiyi, having finished vomiting, smoothed her hair and walked into the living room to drink some water.
Zuo Zichen watched her recover slightly and then approached her. "Mom, can you tell me what Quan Zhisui’s mother was like?"
The moment the words left his mouth—
*Crash!*
Xu Zhiyi hurled the glass to the floor, shattering it into pieces!
Her face twisted with rage. "Zuo Zichen! Why are you bringing up that bitch?!"
Zuo Zichen was startled by her reaction and quickly tried to explain, "I was just curious…"
Xu Zhiyi lunged at him, her expression terrifying as she screamed, "Curious about what?! Curious about how your mother was a mistress back then?!"
"That’s not it!" Zuo Zichen snapped, growing frustrated. "Stop calling yourself a mistress all the time!"
*Slap!*
Xu Zhiyi suddenly struck her son across the face, pointing a trembling finger at him. "You’re just looking down on me! Just like your father! He looks down on me, and so do you! Your father goes out and finds women, so why can’t I go out and find men?! You’re no better than him!"
Zuo Zichen held his cheek in disbelief, his gaze filled with sorrow as he looked at his mother.
She had become so unfamiliar.
Why had their once-happy family turned into this?
Xu Zhiyi continued to rant, her anger and humiliation boiling over. She stormed to the cabinet, grabbed another glass, and smashed it.
Then she kept smashing things, one after another.
If Quan Feng’s daughter liked to act crazy, then she’d act crazy too!
This was her home! Xu Zhiyi’s home!
The living room was in chaos, her screams echoing throughout the first floor.
Zuo Zichen watched his mother’s breakdown, then quietly retreated to his room on the second floor. He took out his phone and opened the chat with Quan Zhisui again.
His sister still hadn’t come back. Where could she be?
Staying out all night…
But then again, it wasn’t like the Zuo Family had any rules. To her, this wasn’t her home, so there was no such thing as "staying out all night."
This place was just an empty shell—no ties, no responsibilities.

The next morning.
Quan Zhisui was woken up by Zi Yin patting her bottom.
"Zhisui! Wake up! Your sleeping posture…" Zi Yin moved her arms and legs off him, then lightly tapped her cheek. "Wake up! Quan Zhisui! Zi Nian! Wake up!"
She had been sleeping like a koala, sprawled on top of Zi Yin and pushing him to the edge of the bed.
When she opened her eyes, Quan Zhisui looked completely dazed.
She had slept so deeply that she was still half-asleep.
Zi Yin, who had been about to pat her bottom again, couldn’t help but chuckle at her expression. He gently ruffled her hair.
The poor girl probably felt insecure in Liangxi, and now that she was with family, her tense nerves had finally relaxed, leading to such a deep sleep.
It was already 7:30 a.m., and she was going to miss morning reading!
Quan Zhisui hurriedly washed up and rushed to school.
Zi Yin had a meeting to attend in the morning and promised to come find her at school afterward.
…
Zuo Zichen had arrived at school early. He didn’t dare go up to the second floor, afraid of running into Wei Shixu.
So he waited by the stairs from 7 a.m. until 7:50, but his sister still hadn’t shown up.
Was she skipping class?
No way!
Quan Zhisui loved studying!
Panicking, Zuo Zichen took out his phone to call her, only to realize her number had been blocked long ago.
Only Quan Zhisui could contact him; he couldn’t reach her.
And the messages on WeChat were still stuck on yesterday’s transfer.
With trembling hands, Zuo Zichen tried sending her another message.
Thankfully! No red exclamation mark!
She hadn’t blocked him on WeChat!
At that moment, Zuo Zichen felt like crying, as if the whole world had abandoned him.
*Tap tap tap!*
Footsteps echoed, and Quan Zhisui, wearing the new sweater and thermal pants Zi Yin had bought her, ran up the stairs, completely unfazed by the cold.
"Zuo Zichen?" She was surprised to see him on the stairs. "What are you doing here?"
Zuo Zichen quickly approached her. "Sister! Why didn’t you come home last night?"
"None of your business. Move, I need to get to class." Quan Zhisui had no interest in talking to him and quickly brushed past him, continuing up the stairs.
She had already missed morning reading; she couldn’t be late for the first class!
Zuo Zichen: "…"
