Chasing You Like a Tenacious Falcon

Chapter 74

Quan Zhisui was called out of the classroom during the second break in the afternoon. She saw the third little brother, who hadn’t shown up for a while, looking as if he was about to cry, his face full of panic.

“What’s wrong?” Quan Zhisui asked.

The third little brother pulled her into a corner, his face twisted in distress as he whispered, “Sister Quan, you need to go to the back hill quickly! Elder Brother Zuo has beaten up Elder Brother Wei!”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Elder Brother Wei had said that this matter couldn’t be spread around, and only Quan Zhisui could be told. Under no circumstances should Kong Mingze find out.

The little brother felt like his life was so hard!

Quan Zhisui’s eyes widened in shock. “What? He actually went to hit Wei Shixu?”

She had only been joking when she teased Zuo Zichen the other day. Given how the Zuo family fawned over the Wei family, even if Zuo Zichen wanted to improve his relationship with Quan Zhisui, he would never dare to lay a hand on Wei Shixu.

And besides, that guy was such a coward!

But…

What?!

He actually did it?!

The third little brother, still afraid to speak too loudly, nervously relayed the words Wei Shixu had taught him: “Elder Brother Zuo seemed to have gone mad! He beat Elder Brother Wei half to death! He’s still hitting him now, and none of us dare to stop him. Elder Brother Zuo only listens to you, Sister Quan!”

Quan Zhisui panicked upon hearing this. “Is he dead? Or seriously injured?”

She had trained in martial arts since childhood and had excellent control over her strength. She could deliver a punch that could kill, or she could hit someone so hard that it hurt like hell but left no visible marks.

Quan Zhisui always knew how to hold back. Otherwise, whether it was Zuo Zichen or Wei Shixu, if she had gone all out, both of them would have been hospitalized long ago. How could they still come to school the next day?

But Zuo Zichen was different. It was as if no one had ever taught him how to behave. He had no sense of boundaries in his actions or his strength!

The third little brother was on the verge of tears. “He’s not dead, but he’s close! Sister Quan! Only you can handle this! No one else can know! You know what kind of person Elder Brother Wei is. If the Wei family finds out, Elder Brother Zuo is finished! Only you can convince Wei Shixu to let it go, and only you can stop Elder Brother Zuo! Sister Quan, I’m begging you!”

“Lead the way!” Quan Zhisui immediately started running.

This was indeed a tricky situation, and it was complicated.

The fact that Zuo Zichen had beaten Wei Shixu was something she had instigated. What if he had gone too far?

In terms of karmic consequences, she would be held responsible!

She didn’t care about the Zuo family’s fate, but if something major happened, she would feel guilty toward her martial arts master!

Her master had always taught her that it was okay to fight back when bullied, but she must never take a life!

Quan ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍Zhisui was genuinely frantic, running so fast that she left the third little brother far behind.

When she arrived at the back hill, she saw Wei Shixu leaning against a wall, covered in injuries and barely conscious.

His school uniform was disheveled, his collar torn, and one of his shoes was missing.

His hair, face, and neck were covered in sweat and dirt, as if he had been pinned to the ground and beaten for a long time, then crawled away.

Moreover, he looked so weak that it seemed he might not make it!

Quan Zhisui rushed over to check his pulse.

Beside her, Zuo Zichen immediately dropped to his knees, crying and performing the most standard kneeling posture.

Heaven knew how devastated he was!

Wei Shixu, feeling the warmth on his wrist, weakly opened his eyes. “You came to save me, Quan Zhisui.”

Quan Zhisui: “!!!”

Wei Shixu looked at her deeply, his lips bleeding as he forced a bitter smile. “I thought you didn’t care whether I lived or died.”

Quan Zhisui was frantic. “Don’t exert yourself. I’ll take you to the hospital.”

“I’m not going,” Wei Shixu stubbornly refused. “You’ll just dump me at the hospital and leave me alone.”

Quan Zhisui softened her voice but spoke urgently. “I won’t, I promise!”

Wei Shixu still shook his head. “I hate hospitals. When I was kidnapped seven years ago, it was because my grandfather was in the hospital. That’s when they dared to act so recklessly.”

He even brought up something that happened seven years ago, pulling out all the stops.

But it worked!

Quan Zhisui was instantly overwhelmed with guilt. “Stop talking.”

She glanced at Zuo Zichen, who was kneeling and crying bitterly, and her expression wavered between shock and reproach.

Wait, Zuo Zichen, did you actually hit him?!

She had been joking that day! Couldn’t this brother tell? How could he be so dense?

Wei Shixu grabbed Quan Zhisui’s wrist. “Don’t look at him. He hit me, and it hurts so much.”

Zuo Zichen immediately cried even harder!

Damn it!!!

Quan Zhisui took a deep breath. “Can you walk? Never mind, I’ll carry you to the infirmary.”

With that, she crouched down in front of Wei Shixu.

“Okay,” Wei Shixu replied, unable to hide the amusement in his eyes as he weakly climbed onto her back. He even shot a warning glance at Zuo Zichen over his shoulder.

Most men would feel embarrassed being carried by a woman, but he had no shame.

None at all!

Zuo Zichen received the signal and could only nod repeatedly, not daring to make a sound.

After the two left, Zuo Zichen got up from the ground and hugged the third little brother, both of them crying.

“Wahhh! Why me? Why?!” Zuo Zichen was genuinely terrified.

He had really hit Wei Shixu. If he hadn’t, Wei Shixu would have jumped off a high rock, and he had looked absolutely deranged!

Zuo Zichen had no choice but to hit him!

But hitting lightly wasn’t enough. Wei Shixu had insisted that he punch harder, again and again.

Zuo Zichen had cried while hitting him, his spirit completely shattered.

The third little brother was also on the verge of collapse. As the messenger and the one in the know, he couldn’t let anything slip. He felt like he was suffocating!

What the hell was Wei Shixu trying to do?!

In the infirmary, Quan Zhisui stayed with Wei Shixu as he was examined and treated.

Luckily, Zuo Zichen wasn’t a trained fighter and didn’t know how to fight properly. Wei Shixu’s injuries weren’t too severe, though they looked horrifying, with bruises and blood everywhere.

The two of them remained silent, the infirmary eerily quiet except for the sounds of the medical tools as the nurse treated Wei Shixu.

Wei Shixu lay on the bed, holding Quan Zhisui’s hand the entire time. Even as the nurse treated him, he refused to let go, acting as if he was afraid Quan Zhisui would run away, his expression full of tragic longing.

In truth, he could walk. Zuo Zichen hadn’t dared to hit him that hard—those punches had been delivered while Zuo Zichen was crying.

But Wei Shixu had to act, to make himself look weak, pitiful, and in desperate need of Quan Zhisui.

However, his mind was already working on the next step of his plan. This incident had only temporarily stalled Quan Zhisui, but it didn’t mean she would return to how things were between them before.

The gap between them still existed, and he had to strike while the iron was hot to make her forgive him!

Zuo Zichen was also a ticking time bomb. Although Wei Shixu had warned and threatened Zuo Zichen and his little brother, Zuo Zichen was still Quan Zhisui’s brother. They went home together and ate meals together every day.

What if he accidentally let something slip…

Wei Shixu needed to come up with a way to make Zuo Zichen too scared to ever tell the truth!

This secret had to stay buried forever!

Quan Zhisui, feeling guilty, didn’t pull her hand away. She had already hit Wei Shixu once before, and her anger had been vented then. Now, Wei Shixu had been inexplicably beaten up again, and she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him!

While feeling guilty, Quan Zhisui was also thinking about how to keep this secret.

She really shouldn’t have done it. Her master had always taught her not to speak carelessly, yet she had still made that mistake.

But the deed was done, and she couldn’t let things escalate further!

She needed to have a serious talk with Zuo Zichen later. Under no circumstances could Wei Shixu find out that she had told Zuo Zichen to hit him.

This secret had to stay buried forever!

For now, both of them were lost in their own thoughts.
