Fate: I Heard After Death, You Can Ascend to the Throne of Heroes?

Chapter 234: Finale of the heroes

Chapter 234: Finale of the heroes

Shirou Emiya!

Yes, the very same workaholic seen everywhere in the Type-Moon universe, and the "Grand Chef" himself-Shirou Emiya!

When Promise first "awoke" and realized which world this was, and later saw Shirou in the Clock Tower, he immediately understood roughly which timeline he had landed in.

After all, aside from Shirou Emiya, there was another prominent figure...Rin Tohsaka.

Like Promise, Rin was also one of Waver Velvet's students.

After the Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City that year, Shirou Emiya accompanied Rin Tohsaka to study at the Clock Tower for three years.

During that time, he even worked as a butler for Rin's "archrival," Luviagelita Edelfelt.

In addition to juggling part-time jobs and learning basic magecraft, Shirou also attended classes in language, history, and legal politics at the local university.

He lived each day with an "always strive to do what you can and absorb as much as you can" mindset.

It was a perfect fit for the image Promise had of Shirou Emiya as the quintessential good guy. So, when he regained his memories, met Shirou, and learned that Rin was his classmate, it didn't take long for him to build a good relationship with Shirou.

Even though they had only known each other for less than a month, the two were already considered friends.

Of course, there was no need to doubt Promise's social skills.

Back in Greece, Promise had been famously known as a social butterfly!

"Rin just called me and asked me to help find you," Shirou said as he walked over to Promise, smiling warmly.

"She said the professor is looking for you and seems pretty upset.

The moment I heard that, I guessed you'd probably be here again."

Hearing this, Promise nodded thoughtfully.

But then, he noticed that Shirou was looking at him with a concerned expression.

"Is it because... you told the professor about your plans to drop out?"

When Shirou asked this hesitantly, Promise immediately understood his misunderstanding.

Knowing Shirou's personality well, it wasn't surprising.

After all, Promise had once discussed his plans to drop out with this guy, fully aware of Shirou's support for the decision.

Having experienced the Holy Grail War, Shirou understood better than anyone how dangerous this world could be.

"Well... yes and no," Promise said after a moment of thought, smiling lightly at Shirou. "I've decided not to drop out anymore because there are some things I need to do and confirm here. As for the professor... I think he's just curious and concerned about me."

Promise shrugged and smiled again, adding, "After all, Shirou, you know how the professor is - a famously tsundere teacher with absolutely no sense of modesty!"

Although Waver Velvet was a highly serious meritocrat, a misanthrope, and a righteous individual who often spoke harshly to his students, he was surprisingly considerate in his actions.

As a transmigrator, Promise naturally understood that this was all just a façade.

He appeared to be arrogant on the surface, but in reality, he was deeply insecure.

His flaws were so glaring that he overcompensated, making it seem as though he could handle anything with ease.

At his core, however, Waver was a kind-hearted person who sought to protect the weak and challenge the strong.

Hearing this, Shirou Emiya couldn't help but laugh.

Thanks to Rin Tohsaka and Promise, Shirou had learned a bit about Waver as well.

"I see..."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

As he listened to these words and looked at the smiling Promise in front of him, he nodded and remarked with some admiration, "It seems you've thought this through a lot." Shirou appeared a little relieved.

He could tell that Promise had finally let go of the burden he'd been carrying for so long.

Although he was still worried about Promise's safety in this dangerous world, especially without any magic crest, he decided to support the boy's resolve.

"So, what are you doing now...?"

Realizing that Promise wasn't troubled about dropping out anymore, Shirou felt a sense of relief, but he couldn't help being curious and looked at him again.

Promise, noticing his confusion, gestured toward the Greek mythology book he held in his hand.

Seeing this, Shirou gave a wry smile and said, "If the professor finds out this is the reason, he's definitely going to lecture you."

He wasn't surprised, though.

Even before his transmigration, Promise had spent a lot of time in libraries, showing an intense interest in various mythological stories.

"It's mainly because I'm curious about the person in this book who shares my name," Promise explained. "I want to know more about him and the stories that follow."

Promise didn't hold back and answered truthfully.

Hearing this, Shirou Emiya immediately nodded, his expression lighting up with understanding as he smiled and said, "Oh, him. I see."

"Huh?" Promise blinked, curious about his reaction, and asked, "Do you know about him?"

"Of course," The latter replied in an almost matter-of-fact tone. "He's pretty famous, after

all."

.

At this moment, Promise felt somewhat conflicted.

After all, not only did he get the evaluation from someone else, but that person was also one

of the most important pieces of the puzzle in this world, Shirou Emiya.

Still, Promise quickly brushed it off with a lighthearted laugh. After all, he'd seen far too many "protagonists" in dramas in that era.

He had even become one himself, stepping onto the stage to play his part.

Soon, Promise and Shirou Emiya found a quiet corner in the library to sit down. Since it was early morning, the already tranquil library felt even more serene.

"You seem quite familiar with him?"

On the way, Promise looked at the young man and couldn't help but ask curiously.

Shirou smiled and nodded slightly, his response a bit vague. "Yeah, I've learned about him because of some... circumstances. I find him pretty interesting..."

Having said this, Shirou suddenly paused as his brown eyes swept over Promise, who was sitting before him, dressed in the Clock Tower student uniform.

"When I first saw you, I couldn't help but think how much you resembled the figure described in mythology," Shirou Emiya said, staring intently into Promise's clear emerald eyes. "Especially now. You look even more like him."

He continued with an exaggerated tone of astonishment, "Anyone who sees those eyes, as bright and clear as starlight, will never forget them.

And that aura of romanticism—like a poet or painter embraced and kissed by the goddess of art herself... Promise, are you really the same person I've known?"

Hearing this, Promise merely smiled faintly and replied, "I've just gone through some trivial experiences. People grow, after all. Surely you've had moments, Shirou, where certain events made you feel like you grew up overnight?"

There was a knowing tone in Promise's voice.

So, hearing his words, Shirou paused, his mind inevitably drifting back to a time about a year ago—an unforgettable past: the Fifth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City.

He nodded, a mixture of understanding and reminiscence flashing in his expression. Promise observed Shirou's introspective demeanor and tilted his head slightly, his thoughts

suddenly shifting.

He suddenly recalled that both Heracles and Medea appeared in the Fifth Holy Grail War,

didn't they?

Though Heracles was summoned as a Berserker, stripped of his sanity...

'Could Shirou have learned something about me through them?'

Wait a second.

Heracles was able to manifest as a Berserker because, in mythology, he had been cursed by

Hera, driven mad, and killed his wife and children.

Does that mean Heracles was still a Berserker during that Holy Grail War?

'And Medea, she originally appeared as a witch of betrayal, but since what I did has become history, it should be impossible for her to become a witch of betrayal again.

If Medea ends up being a witch of betrayal, I think the goddess Hecate will come out to settle accounts with me with a face full of resentment even now!'

Recalling the experience of pitting the goddess badly in the myth, Promise couldn't help but

raise the corners of his mouth, however, when he found that Shirou Emiya was looking at him curiously, he restrained himself a little, lowered his head and flipped open the hefty book of mythology in his hands.

"It's an immense honor for someone as unremarkable as me to be compared to such a legendary figure," Promise said lightly. "Speaking of which, what happened after his death?" Hearing his words, Shirou's expression shifted to one of realization, and he chuckled. "Oh, I get it now. Promise, you came to the library today, even skipping class, because you're curious about the aftermath of that hero's, shall we say... romantic entanglements, aren't

you?"

The main theme of ancient Greek mythology?

Heroes, gods, and monsters?

No, it's definitely romance and scandal!

"Romantic entanglements?" Promise looked up at Shirou, feeling a bit stunned.

Wait?

Are you talking about me?

Are you sure?!

What romance?

He was so focused on his goal of dying that he didn't even think about it.

"Exactly," Shirou Emiya said with a smile, completely oblivious to Promise's current confusion and bewilderment. "Whether it's the legendary devotee of Artemis, that witch, or the most beautiful mortal woman, they all had countless ties with him.

"To the point that, because of him, these three women never married for the rest of their

lives.

One of them even triggered the Trojan War because of it.

But honestly, that's not even the most explosive part-what's more fascinating is the

situation with the goddesses!"

He leaned in, his tone growing more amused.

"The goddess of wisdom, the goddess of fate, and the moon goddess-tsk, tsk, tsk...those

three virgin goddesses of Greek mythology? He managed to provoke two of them!"

How dare you?!

Promise's mouth twitched slightly as he stared at Shirou, who looked completely engrossed

in his gossip, practically wearing a "spectator eating popcorn" expression and couldn't help

but roll his eyes internally.

So this is the real Shirou Emiya?

Deciding to ignore him, Promise refrained from responding.

After all, when faced with the facts, he couldn't muster any words to refute them. Instead, he focused his attention entirely on the hefty mythology book in his hands, flipping through the pages to read about the series of events that unfolded after his departure. According to the myths, after he defeated Typhon, the progenitor of all monsters, and forever

closed his eyes while resting in the embrace of his goddess, Heracles and the other heroes joined forces to defeat the remaining Titan gods and imprison them once again.

Later, once the world returned to peace, Hermes, the messenger of the gods, conveyed the news to the Argonauts, who had temporarily paused their journey. Although the heroes had already suspected the truth because of one final painting Promise

left behind, when they learned that it had indeed happened, they were still overwhelmed with

grief.

At that moment, however, Atalanta, the devotee of Artemis, stood up and scolded them

loudly.

She declared that Promise had achieved his lifelong dream and departed with a smile, so they

should not mourn his passing.

Instead, they ought to rejoice for their friend and continue to complete their unfinished

mission.

Atalanta's words awakened the heroes.

They cast aside their sorrow and instead held a grand banquet to celebrate Promise's

departure.

'Unbelievable! I died, and you all happily throw a feast? Really?!'

Seeing this, Promise pursed his lips, but a relaxed smile appeared on his face.

However, that smile soon stiffened.

What followed in the text was a record about Helen.

Helen could not accept it...not being able to shoot that single arrow herself.

She was furious and consumed with jealousy that Atalanta and Medea were able to witness Promise's departure in that moment.

Thus, in her anger, she left the Argo and later, as if in an act of vengeance, incited the

infamous Trojan War...

Reading the paragraph, Promise's expression turned complicated.

Fortunately, the subsequent records eased his expression somewhat.

The heroes returned to their homeland, bringing with them the precious Golden Fleece.

Jason immediately reclaimed the throne from his uncle.

This time, his uncle didn't dare deny him, as fulfilling Promise's final wish was now non- negotiable. Queen Hera herself even descended to witness the conclusion of the matter.

It was also on that very day that Actaeon, the great stag, stepped off the Argo and reverted to

his original, handsome form.

Heracles continued to complete several more trials, ultimately ascending to his role as the great hero of strength.

As for Atalanta, she returned to the forest to follow her goddess, disappearing into its depths.

It was said she became a servant of the goddess, fulfilling her lifelong vow to serve her deity. Medea reunited with her teacher and, after completing her studies, returned to her homeland.

Although countless heroic princes proposed to her in the years that followed, she turned them

all down.

Later, she sought out the witch Circe, and from that point on, vanished without a trace.
