Chapter 600: Twin Moon [Bonus]

Chapter 600: Twin Moon [Bonus]

Sylas' gaze flickered.

This was outside of his expectations, but he had already found the Quest itself to be quite odd. The first three legs, the Fragments, Common, and Bronze parts, had all been extremely easy, relatively speaking.

However, this Silver leg had had a drastic rise in difficulty.

'Well, that might not be true either...'

Technically, the Silver leg only asked him to clear the Dungeon. But all things considered, he hadn't even made it to the Dungeon yet. All of this was just a lead-up to it.

But to think that there was still a Gold leg after it. Would there be another Legendary leg that he was missing to all of this?

Sylas had already realized that the grading of the system was a bit wacky sometimes. Two things that shared a Silver Grade might not necessarily be of the same quality. For example, a Silver Treasure like the Mancer's Wand versus a Silver Aether Treasure, Mancer's Blossom.

But this was still the oddest application of these "odd" grading standards.

'It must be then that...'

The system wasn't perfect, Sylas had seen that. It could be exploited, fooled, and it had far too many things to account for at once to possibly give everything the same amount of energy. So it often took shortcuts.

Sometimes, those shortcuts would even cause Sylas to suffer quite a bit.

But most often, those shortcuts would be most prominent when it came to matters related to the system that existed before this current one.

Could it be, then, that the system was struggling with grading this Quest properly because of that? Or did it just not factor in the difficulty of reaching the Dungeon in the first place?

That said... Sylas was having a very hard time believing that a Dungeon protected by all of these mechanisms could possibly be all that simple to clear.

He might be having a relatively easy time making it through, but how many others could boast such a thing?

Sylas lightly tapped a foot and a ripple of his intent spread out in all directions. Now, he found that controlling Runes had become even easier than they had once been in the past, and he sent a vast array of commands in a single brief instant.

At that moment, all the Runes in the lair of swinging guillotines were cleared.

Sylas had a feeling that from now on, while the puzzles had only become more difficult for others, they had actually gotten much easier for him.

If they didn't get far more complex than this, they wouldn't even compare to the Rune Enlightenment Secret Realm, let alone the Rune Breath Secret Realm.

Sylas suddenly blinked. 'It can't be that the Quest is called Rune Enlightenment because of that, right?'

If that really was the case, this would be worse than a cakewalk. It would be a joke to Sylas.

Alex swiftly caught up after Sylas dealt with the scythes.

Sylas only gave the family a nod before he prepared to go on ahead. As for how they got out of here, he didn't really care one way or another.

The fact that they had made it so far at least meant that they were competent, but if he was correct, unless you had a Rune Master following you in this place, you were as good as dead.

"If you'd hold on for a moment, young man."

Sylas turned back at the middle-aged man's words. He didn't say a word, waiting to hear what he had to say, but to his surprise, he got a notification and a system-bound contract appeared before him.

-

[Contract Invitation Received From Cole Farren]

The terms were quite simple. Cole would subordinate himself to Sylas for three years and do whatever was asked of him that didn't harm his wife and child.

But what was more interesting than that was the fact that he had shared with Sylas his entire status screen.

The last time Sylas had seen a status screen, it was actually Cassarae. Though Nosphaleen probably also counted, it wasn't exactly the same because she was his contracted beast.

Cole was going so far as to show his use, and that he was.

Sylas looked toward the deep gash in Cole's son's back only to find that it was actually already half healed.

Sylas was immediately attracted to the Gold Class. It was the first time he had seen one so high, though it was hard to tell considering he couldn't just read what level of Class a person had from the face. He could only infer a bit through their stats, and usually, someone who had exceptionally high stats to begin with would have protections even his senses couldn't see

through.

But that was what made it so odd...

Cole's stats were far too low for someone this high leveled.

The only explanation for that would be if he only recently upgraded his Class to this Level.

But... that didn't feel like the right answer either.

Suddenly it hit Sylas and he looked over to Cole's wife. There was a hint of panic in Cole's eyes that he quickly hid, but Sylas had already grasped onto it.

'Twin Moon? Is it possible that...'

Before, he hadn't been paying much attention, but it had looked as though Cole's wife was the one doing the healing. But why was Cole the one with a Healer tag added to his Class?

If they were both Healers, then shouldn't Cole be working with his wife to heal their son?

Unless...
