Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 184 - 176 Exploding Phoenix

Actually, regarding this trial, both Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao felt quite relaxed at heart. Even though there would be over a hundred thousand people gathering on Desolate Island, these people were all Six Patterns in strength.

To Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao, a hundred thousand Six Patterns didn’t pose any threat to them, which was why they confidently brought the little fox and Caomei along into Desolate Island.

Having participated in the grand battle before, millions had seen it, and among them, Seven Patterns and Eight Patterns were countless, and they had even seen quite a few Nine Patterns.

Adding to that, the encounter with the mighty Saint Armor Turtle and Yao Wumeng, as well as Blade Master Old Wang and his group not long ago, they had continuously fought against those whose levels far exceeded their own. Now, facing this group of people of the same level, it really was quite relaxing. And although there were indeed a hundred thousand people, they were not all targeting themselves.

Walking from the edge to the center of the island meant that the enemies encountered in the final stages would increase slightly, but not by much. What was most important now was to reach the center of the island as quickly as possible because from the beginning, Sun Wukong and others were not considering whether they could pass the selection but what ranking they could achieve with their speed!

Therefore, after feeling lost for a while, the three of them regained their spirits. Although they couldn’t leave directly from this place, as long as they spent a bit more time, they could leave through the normal channels. Now, the urgent task was to complete the trial and then enter the Supreme Pool.

Caomei had the little fox with her, and Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao were not worried about the little fox’s speed at all. Even if the three people ran for their lives, they couldn’t leave the little fox behind; instead, they were constantly worried about being left behind by the little fox.

Moreover, Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao found that the strength of Flame God was definitely not as simple as it appeared on the surface. Leaving aside combat power, just the speed of running alone was not slower than Sun Wukong’s and Xi Zhao’s. Furthermore, whenever Flame God activated his Soul Power, an image of a flaming figure would appear around him.

When this flame figure appeared, Flame God’s speed would explode instantly, and if he sprinted with all his might, he would probably be faster than Sun Wukong and the others.

Sun Wukong was becoming more and more interested in Flame God ever since Caomei mentioned that he was very special. Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao always tried to find out what the Strange Saber’s function was, but every time Flame God mysteriously shook his head.

One day, while resting, Sun Wukong lay half-reclined on the ground with a blanket underneath, holding a big peach in his hand, eating it while staring blankly at Flame God’s Strange Saber.

The reason for calling it Strange Saber was because it closely resembled a giant kitchen knife, about two and a half meters long, slightly longer than the Golden Hoop in its normal state. The blade of the Strange Saber was square and large, covering more than half of the knife’s body, and it was densely engraved with many unknown talismans.

The handle was also rather long, providing ample space even when held with both hands. The back of the Strange Saber was thick, with a luminous red glow that resembled one of the four great spirit beasts of the Ancient Realm, the Vermilion Bird, moving ceaselessly on the blade’s back.

Apart from Sun Wukong, the others appeared to be enjoying themselves, each spreading a blanket on the ground, sitting or lying on it while eating a variety of fruits. Most unbearably, Caomei and the little fox were lying on a stone bed carved entirely out of Warm Jade, staring up at the stars in the Void above.

The reason everyone was so relaxed was not due to carelessness or neglect but because one day, Xi Zhao inadvertently discovered that there were sixteen Guardian Puppets in his Space Ring. So, during a boring moment, he took out those sixteen Guardian Puppets to play with, and Flame God immediately recognized one of the puppets taken out by Xi Zhao as one of the Heavenly Guardian Puppets. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

After hurriedly asking if there were more, Xi Zhao produced thirty-six more with an innocent expression.

Since then, the group had not needed to keep watch at night anymore. Sun Wukong also found many blankets and that Warm Jade stone bed in his ring. Although Sun Wukong explained that the jade bed resembled the Stone Bed he used to sleep on back at Flower Fruit Mountain, it still attracted the peculiar gazes of the others, and in the end, Caomei, using her status as a child, directly monopolized it.

Though it was strange that Xi Zhao was unaware of the contents of his Space Ring and that Sun Wukong’s ring had blankets and seemingly endless fruits, neither eyes nor Caomei asked further, perhaps thinking that the two simply had too much money to spend or had randomly looted or purchased them, or they might have taken other people’s Space Rings.

Without asking, Sun Wukong and the others didn’t say much. The direct consequence of this was that Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao were beaten up by Caomei — of course, this was a story for later and will not be discussed for now.

So, the five of them traveled easily during the day and released the thirty-six Heavenly Guardian Puppets to keep watch at night. This situation continued until the fifth day when they finally encountered the first wave of enemies — a small team of eight people, each of them looking fierce and murderous, clearly having fought their way here.

In comparison, Sun Wukong and his party looked like they were on a spring outing. Their clothes were free of any dirt or dust, each clean and tidy, and they were accompanied by a young girl and a pet fox. The little fox had been learning with Caomei during this time and could now change its size at will.

Of course, this had no practical significance — Caomei only did it so the little fox would occupy less space when they slept at night.

The eight men saw new prey before them and, at a glance, they knew they were likely the offspring of a large force — no one else would bring a little girl to Desolate Island. The eight men sneered and gripped their weapons, slowly advancing.

Seeing enemies for the first time in so many days, both Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao felt a rush of excitement before pretending to be very scared and slowly retreating until they were back at the sides of the little fox and Caomei.

As a result, Flame God found himself standing alone at the forefront. Turning his head to glance at Sun Wukong and Xi Zhao, he noticed they suddenly turned their heads away, feigning ignorance. Flame God couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly. It seemed he had to act this time.

Turning back around, Flame God addressed the leader of the eight people, asking, "You’ve seen it too, my companions don’t want to fight. Can you let us go?" Stay tuned to empire

On hearing Flame God’s words, the group of eight were all stunned before erupting into thunderous laughter, even the leader guffawed, "You guys..."

He had barely uttered two words when he saw the red-haired youth suddenly vanish, leaving behind only a succession of fiery afterimages. Then there was a scream from behind him, accompanied by a loud explosion. The leader didn’t have time to turn around, as the wave from the explosion was already crashing into his back, searing heat making it unbearable.

He quickly rolled forward and managed to turn around.

As he turned, he caught sight of Flame God raising that huge Strange Saber overhead, bringing it down on one of his team members. The person being struck reacted quickly, raising his large axe to block the blow, but before the leader could feel relieved, the Strange Saber suddenly flashed red and then a massive explosion followed.

The one who had blocked Flame God’s Strange Saber with the handle of his axe was now obliterated by the blast, not just shattered to pieces but the axe itself was also exploded into fragments.

After killing that person, another fiery figure rose from Flame God’s body while Flame God himself disappeared from where he was, appearing in front of another member of the group. Seven people, seven slashes, all resolved in less than the time it takes to take seven breaths. When the leader came to his senses, he was the only one left of his squad.

Watching Flame God approach slowly, carrying the Strange Saber like a deity of fire, the leader felt a shiver through his entire body and fell to his knees with a thud. However, Flame God didn’t spare him a glance, walking right past him.

But as Flame God passed by, the leader suddenly felt an intense pain in his right arm, and though the fear of death forced him to endure it quietly, he didn’t dare make a sound.

Caomei, who had been sitting on the little fox’s back, suddenly jumped to the ground and began clapping excitedly, saying, "Flame God is so cool, so handsome, now we can have barbecued meat. That’s great!"

Flame God, who had been all imposing moments ago, nearly fell flat on his face hearing Caomei’s words. He strapped the Strange Saber on his back with a look of dismay and spread his hands out, saying, "So you finally saw me in action, didn’t you? That’s really too bad, I demand an extra meal tonight!"

"Kid, not bad, what’s the name of that saber? Mind if I give it a try?"

"Nah, even if I gave it to you, you couldn’t use it. This saber is called the Exploding Phoenix, and I’m the only one in the whole world who can wield it!"

With those words, the group slowly walked away, while the leader who had been kneeling on the ground suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, realizing he had managed to save his life. He then hurriedly checked the injury on his arm and found there was no wound. However, near his shoulder on his arm, there appeared a tattoo of a phoenix!
