Healing System

Chapter 181 A New World

Michael?

'...I'm here,' he replied groggily.

His vision was shrouded in black, and the feeling of cold creeping up his spine was even more disturbing.

After all, how could he feel cold? It did not make any sense.

He scrambled around, trying to move his arm, only to feel endless resistance.

'Map it out,' he ordered, his voice containing traces of panic.

I'll try, the system replied as the map appeared in the seemingly endless darkness.

However, the contents were anything but clear. In fact, it almost seemed like the system was messing with him.

'Are you messing with me?'

Of course not. I'm still mapping it out. But from what I can see, you are stuck somewhere deep underground.

'Underground? Fuck...' Michael grumbled inwardly before sending a few bits of mana outward, trying to cut apart the substance holding him down.

Despite his expectation that it would work, the only result was that mana was being used, with seemingly no effect.

He quickly came to a conclusion. I really am trapped... System, any progress?

Well... more like an idea. A pretty bad one.

'What is it?' he questioned, noticing the system's tone growing a bit ominous.

What's the furthest away you can feel right now?

Michael raised an eyebrow at the comment but nonetheless tried it out before replying, "24 kilometers around me. Why?"

My idea is, use Heavenly Judgement as far away as you can. It might shake up the world enough to free you, or at least give you a more accurate idea of where you are.

'I got many times stronger since the last time I used it... Also, my mana is pretty much at rock bottom because of earlier. I can't use it yet.'

Hmm... Alright, give me a moment, the system suddenly said, and in the very next moment, the ground shook, causing Michael to start slowly moving around in whatever he was.

'Did you just use Heavenly Judgement?' he asked, amused. It was uncommon for the system to waste mana like that.

I used a weaker version, around 20% of the Halo's mana. It's fine.

Even though it remarked lightheartedly, the fact that the whole earth was shaking did not help its case.

However, as it intensified, a small glimmer of light appeared in his peripheral vision. It was odd, considering he was supposed to be deep under the earth.

Nonetheless, he took this chance and reached his hand out towards it, finally feeling the ease of movement.

As he did so, the light began changing colors, painting the surroundings to the point where he was blinded.

But as he opened his eyes once more, the sight of heavy snow greeted his vision, dominating everything in its surroundings.

It was dark, but the snow lit up the land—or better yet, the mountain he was currently on.

A large snowy peak, surrounded by many other peaks that all seemed to pierce straight through the clouds—just like the one he was currently standing on.

But what stood out the most was the fact that he was currently on a mountain, a pretty slim one at that.

Just a few moments ago, he was supposedly under the earth. It was pretty strange.

'You didn't blow apart this whole mountain range, right?' Michael asked, an ominous feeling welling up in his heart.

Of course not. I think I might have triggered the teleportation, though you ended up in a different place entirely.

'Right... map?' Michael said, and the system immediately began filling up the previously distorted map.

However, all he could see on it was white.

The snowy mountainous land seemed to stretch out for at least 40 kilometers. It was a pretty unfavorable situation for him.

'Any ideas?' he asked the system and spread out his wings, hovering in the sky.

None. If you don't know where you are, what's the use in debating which direction you should go? Just pick one already.

'Hmm... fair enough,' Michael let out a sigh and looked around before spotting a certain direction in which the mountains seemed not as large, their sizes decreasing until eventually, some no longer pierced the clouds.

He made up his mind to go there, and without waiting any further, he began flying.

The mountains kept getting shorter and shorter. However, it was a bit surprising how many there were.

His little flying journey continued for a couple of minutes until eventually, he reached a point where the mountains disappeared; only a few were visible.

But after a couple more moments, they too had disappeared.

However, his map still showed white. Only a little bit of greenery was visible, and even then, it was barely noticeable.

'Hm?' In the midst of his flying, he spotted a certain structure in the distance. On the map, it wasn't visible.

It seemed like some sort of old-fashioned carriage, one that was completely abandoned with its wheel broken off.

What stood out the most was the fact that there was dried blood smeared all across the snow.

The trail seemed to circle all around the carriage and a bit off into the distance, as if the one responsible for this trail was moving somewhere.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Michael followed the blood trail with curiosity, seeing where it would lead him.

Until eventually, he stumbled upon the edge of the trail and a little bump in the snow—one that was human-sized.

It didn't take a genius to realize that before him was the corpse of whoever that blood trail belonged to.

Despite his hesitance, he showered the body in mana, unveiling it from under the snow coffin.

'A man? Probably?' he assumed. It was hard to tell because of the deterioration.

One thing stood out, however, and that was the individual's clothing. It seemed chinese, the design anyway.

And then there was a little plaque around the individual's neck. There were some symbols carved out of wood, ones that he could not read.

However, the system could.

It says, 'Flowing Cloud Sect.' Seems like you landed yourself in one of the Murim worlds.

'Murim...? You mean where they cultivate for power or something?' A shiver went down his spine at that thought.

He remembered they were a bunch who strived for power among many things. The most noticeable feature of theirs was the fact that they would stop at nothing to get that said power.

Meaning, there were a lot of evil people in the world, some of whom might prove troublesome.

After all, he was unsure if this world was really the one he was supposed to go to or something else entirely. For all he knew, it was not a lower world but a medium world.

If that was the case, then Tier 10 powerhouses would likely be around the corner.

I am still not sure if this is Aldion either, it's a very big world. At a glance, it doesn't look like a medium world either.

'Hopefully,' Michael nodded back and pocketed the wooden plaque containing the name of the sect.

Just in case, he also looked through the individual's clothing in search of something that could give him more clues.

But alas, he couldn't find anything aside from a certain wound located on the abdomen. It looked as though it was a wound made with a sword.

'Why do I feel like this world might be a little bit troublesome?' Michael thought inwardly and dug a hole for the individual before plopping them inside and flying upwards.

He took another look at his map out of curiosity, and to his surprise, there was a patch of green at the very edge of it.

And that's exactly where he would be heading.
