Chapter 1342 Bitter
Chapter 1342 Bitter
The next morning, everyone had gotten up with their bags packed and ready to leave. But only two people were missing. "Where is Elle and Xian?" asked Mu Chenyan. "Why aren't they here yet? Don't tell me they overslept."
"No, they are packing their bags," said Hyson.
"What? Didn't they pack their bags last night?"
"Maybe they had more important things to do last night," chuckled Xiang Wai in a suspicious way.
"And what could that be?" asked Hyson seriously.
"Oh, you know."
"What? I don't know."
Xiang Wai gave him a hateful look and said, "You let it be. You're still young."
Hyson was appalled by this comment. He had been hearing this too much lately even though he was clearly the same age as Raelle. Maybe he had really gone too far setting his image as the baby. Now, it was difficult for everyone to see him as an adult but this was not good. He had to do something to change this.
Mu Chenyan looked at the two of them and was speechless.
Hyson looked at his mother who came with a big smile on her face and walked up to her asking, "Mum, where were you last night?"
'I went to the night market.'
"Alone?"
'You know the answer already.'
Hyson nodded his head in agreement, "I do know the answer and that's why I wondering, have you forgotten that you have a son? Again?"
Yue Yue looked at his pitiful eyes. 'Don't play this pitiful card with me. It works better on Chenyan. I know you very well.'
Hyson rubbed his nose and shrugged, "You can't blame me. I can't even mention my dissatisfaction now. It's true that you give me way less time than your newly minted 'boyfriend'."
'That's your father. I told you, even if you don't take him as one. You have to respect him. I did not teach you to be disrespectful.'
"I am already doing my best."
'Your best is certainly not the best.'
"Should I say he is still more important than me?"
Yue Yue gave him a look. Hyson smiled softly and shook his head, "Sorry! I won't say it again. I didn't even come to talk about this. I wanted to ask, what did you eat at the night market? Was it fun? Did you enjoy it?"
Yue Yue nodded excitedly and shared with him how much fun she had last night like a young girl. Hyson looked at her brightened face and felt really complicated in his heart. This feeling really wasn't nice. The way someone else was able to make his mother smile like he never could even though he shaped all his life according to her wishes and yet... He stopped his thoughts right there and didn't dare continue down this line. It already didn't feel good so he didn't want to think more about it.
"How are you, Fai?" asked Zhai Kuijun to Hyson.
Hyson just looked at him and said, "I'm good. As always."
"That's good," said Zhai Kuijun. "You were sleeping yesterday or else we wanted to take you out with us."
"First, that wasn't your intention. Second, I'm no longer a kid who needs to accompany his parents out for fun."
Zhai Kuijun nodded, "Right. You are way past that age where you'd need your father to take you out for fun."
"I sure am," responded Hyson and walked away from there. He did not feel like talking to his parents anymore. "What did you say to your mother?" asked Mu Chenyan.
"What can I possibly say to her?" asked Hyson in return.
"You definitely said something that her expression and her whole mood suddenly changed," said Mu Chenyan. "Don't do that to her."
"I try not to be bitter with her but it just happens without me realizing it. I seem to can't control myself sometimes," said Hyson. "But my intention has never been to hurt her or anyone for that matter. You'd know that. I don't like hurting people."
"No, but you do end up doing it just like your best friend."
Hyson shrugged, "Can you blame me?"
"I really can't. Even if you do it intentionally, I can't say anything to you because you're my precious godson. But Yue is also my sister. I really can't see her sad either."
"She is very happy these days. Where is the sadness?" asked Hyson. "She can hardly even remember her son these days. You know, she used to call me every day. But now... things have changed. Times surely change."
"You sound like you're abandoned."
"There is a feeling of unbalance," told Hyson. "It's not just with her either. It's the same with you and Ellie too. But it doesn't mean I'm angry or unsatisfied. It's just as I said. I'm feeling a bit unbalanced because I haven't been treated like this for a long time."
"You're still very important to us."
"But I'm no longer the priority. Anyone would feel complicated when they fall from a pedestal."
"Then you should also find someone who puts you on the top of their heart," suggested Mu Chenyan.
"I'll pass for now," he replied.
Mu Chenyan shook her head at him and saw Raelle coming with Shui Xian, "As they say, the longer you live, the more things you'd see in life that seemed impossible once." She looked at their rosy complexion and added, "Who would have thought I'd once see my Ellie being late." n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"I'm not late," replied Raelle as she looked at her watch. "I'm right on time."
"It's pretty late considering your track record," said Mu Chenyan. "But I'm glad you are here. Have your bags been packed, everyone?"
"Yes!"
"Okay, let's eat something light and get going."
All of them sat down to eat some light breakfast which consisted of soybean milk, steamed buns, and porridge. No one was in the mood to eat too much at this time. Especially since they had to start their journey back home right now. So, they just make do before leaving.
