Pokemon: A New Path

Chapter 60: Trick

Chapter 60: Trick

Just as Naoki was pondering this, Dragonite, who had gone to deliver the milk, returned. It eagerly removed the small red bag from its waist and flew in front of Naoki, its eyes shining. "Roar!"

Naoki smiled helplessly and said, "I know, I know. I'll take you there right away."

The creature that had broken into the chicken coop didn't seem to have any ill intentions at the moment. Moreover, it wasn't even as big as a chicken, so Naoki wasn't worried about it harming the hens. He put the matter aside for now and focused on training Dragonite.

Dragonite's body was slippery, making it difficult to ride on rainy days. Additionally, it needed to practice its moves, so carrying a passenger wasn't convenient.

So, Naoki chose to ride Koraidon.

He put on a raincoat, mounted Koraidon, nodded to Dragonite, and it flapped its wings, taking flight against the rain. Naoki and Koraidon followed closely behind.

The sky above was covered with dark clouds, with faint lightning and thunder brewing within them. When they reached their limit, they would explode in the sky.

This kind of weather was perfect for staying indoors and relaxing.

However, he had made a promise to Dragonite, and he intended to keep it.

Naoki exhaled slowly, and suddenly a loud clap of thunder startled him, causing a flicker of fear in his heart.

He held onto Koraidon tightly and looked up. Surely, Koraidon wouldn't attract lightning, right? If a bolt struck, Koraidon, the Legendary Pokémon, would likely be fine, but he, a mere human, would be in trouble.

Perhaps sensing Naoki's fear, Koraidon turned and let out a comforting cry, "Gaah!"

It sped up, then soared into the thunderclouds, breaking through them to emerge above the darkness.

Suddenly, the rain stopped.

Naoki looked at the scene below and expressed his gratitude to Koraidon.

It was the first time Naoki had reached such an altitude, and he felt a little short of breath. It took him a moment to adjust.

At that point, Dragonite also flew up.

Naoki found a dark cloud that looked relatively calm and then said to Dragonite, "Feel the Water-type energy around you, and sense the process of raindrops forming and falling! Then, try to imitate it and control it!"

Dragonite seemed to understand. It descended slightly, placing itself amidst the falling rain. It closed its eyes, taking in everything around it.

Naoki had Koraidon descend lower and observed Dragonite from a distance.

Time passed, and the rain showed no signs of slowing down.

"Looks like this rain will last all day." Naoki murmured.

Just then, thunder and lightning began to brew in the dark clouds above.

Before Naoki could react, a bolt of lightning struck. Its target was Dragonite below.

The next second, Dragonite was hit by the lightning. Yellow electricity coursed through its body.

"Dragonite!" Naoki shouted.

The heavy rain poured down, and Dragonite gritted its teeth against the pain.

Naoki's mind raced. Looking at Dragonite enveloped in electricity, a bold idea popped into his head.

"Dragonite! Stay calm! Try to control the electricity and release it!" Naoki called out.

From a distance, Dragonite heard his voice. It clenched its teeth and struggled to harness the energy of the lightning that had struck it.

"--Roar!"

With a powerful cry, a surge of energy burst forth from Dragonite. Its body, bathed in electric light, gathered strength, and a dazzling bolt of lightning shot out from its body.

Naoki's eyes widened slightly.

That move.

It was Thunderbolt! The classic move used by Ash's Pikachu!

Only after releasing all the electrical energy did Dragonite calm down. It looked battered, having sustained some minor injuries from the lightning strike. The scales on its skin were charred black from the electricity.

"Multiscale?" Naoki thought, finally understanding this Dragonite's unique trait.

Multiscale reduced the damage it received when its HP was full.

"How are you feeling?" Naoki asked.

"Roar."

Dragonite's small wings fluttered gently. It looked down at the charred scales on its body, its expression dejected. It was so unlucky to be struck by lightning for no reason.

It reached out its large paw and sadly touched its scales.

Suddenly, a trace of residual electricity sparked from its claws.

"Roar?!"

Dragonite was startled and quickly shook its paw.

The next second, more electricity surged out, enveloping its fist.

"Roar?"

Dragonite raised its large claws and looked at them in confusion.

'What's going on? What happened? Is this a new move'?

Dragonite looked at Naoki, seeking an answer.

Looking at Dragonite's fist, Naoki understood everything. He smiled and said, "You could say you've turned misfortune into a blessing. Congratulations, Dragonite. That's Thunder Punch. You can use it to attack your opponents, and sometimes it will even paralyze them. All in all,

it's a very good move."

"Roar!"

Hearing this, Dragonite smiled happily. Its big eyes lit up, and a silly grin appeared on its

face.

"Now, can you try using Thunderbolt again?" Naoki asked. "Use all the electrical energy in

your body to attack."

"Roar."

Dragonite started experimenting. It concentrated, controlling the electrical energy within its body, trying to make it explode outwards.

But it failed.

Compared to before, the electrical energy in Dragonite's body seemed a bit weak, not enough

to support the use of Thunderbolt.

Dragonite was a little discouraged.

Naoki comforted it, "You did very well. From what I observed, it's just that the energy in your body is still weak, and you lack experience. As long as you work harder and practice more,

you'll definitely be able to use it."

Hearing this, Dragonite regained its spirit.

Then, it was time to continue working on Rain Dance!

Dragonite looked up at the raindrops falling from the sky, its expression more serious than

ever. After days of hard work and Naoki's guidance, it felt like it was gradually figuring out the techniques and tricks to learning moves.

Moves were closely related to the energy and control within a Pokémon's body. To use a specific move, one must first learn how to control the energy of the corresponding type.

So, next, it should do this

Dragonite closed its eyes again and tried to sense the rain falling all around it. It formed in the sky, dripped from the clouds, fell to the earth, and nourished everything in the world.

Breeze, rain, air currents, clouds.
