Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 156: Vacuum Packaging Machine

Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Vacuum Packaging Machine

In the evening, after Su Jin entered the Space, she noticed that the rice and corn she had harvested last time had grown again and seemed almost ripe.

Lu Guanhai had also planted some other fruits and vegetables, such as cantaloupes, eggplants, and even specially planted bananas for Local Tyrant Gold…

“Grandpa, isn’t there a way to make the stuff in the Space into food that’s easier to preserve?” Su Jin asked Lin Yunguo while leaning on the sofa in the main hall of the Lu Residence.

“There is a way, but we’re missing something,” Lin Yunguo had thought about this problem before but hadn’t expected Su Jin to ask about it today.

“What are we missing? We can go look for it.”

As long as it wasn’t too hard to find, she could use the Space to bring it back.

“A vacuum food sealer and compatible sealing bags.”

Lin Yunguo knew the owner of a small workshop near City H, which specialized in home cooking. By using the vacuum sealer to remove all air from the bags, bacteria and microbes would lose their environment to survive.

If it were cooked meats, they could be preserved for about half a month; dried fruits could even last a year, and cured meats and sausages had an even longer preservation time.

“How big is the vacuum sealer? Does it use a lot of electricity?”

Upon hearing this, Su Jin became interested, but if it were a large machine, not to mention that the villa couldn’t accommodate it, even placing it in the Space would be challenging to maintain for a long duration due to its high power consumption.

“There are smaller ones. The one in that nearby workshop only comes up to my waist,” Lin Yunguo said, standing up and gesturing.

Such a small machine, although it might pack less food each time, could definitely be used in both the Space and the villa.

But where to find such a vacuum sealer?

With this question in mind, Su Jin left the Space and ran into Lin Cheng, who was heading upstairs. Seeing Su Jin frowning, he asked what was the matter.

“A vacuum sealer? There are plenty of places that have those; they’re not expensive equipment,”

Lin Cheng was aware of such machines, as many street food shops actually had them.

“Really? Thank you, Uncle!”

Su Jin had decided that starting tomorrow, she would look for this type of machine.

If only she had thought of this before the Apocalypse, when she could have rallied the family to stock up. Who would have imagined that one day they would have more supplies in the Space than they could eat, even to the point of needing to sell them.

For the next day’s plan, Su Jin discussed with Lu Hao and decided to split up; Lu Hao would head to the Refuge with Guo Yang, Xue Wanyi, Yin Chengtian, and Shi Jin to discuss the store matters with Liang Jiuhui, while the others would accompany Su Jin to find the vacuum sealer.

However, early the next morning, Liao Yifan complained to Su Jin that she might not be able to go out today and would have to stay at home to look after the house. Su Jin could tell at a glance that she was on her period and kindly fetched a few packs of sanitary pads from the Space for her.

“Thank you, Su Jin. I’m glad I didn’t go to Guo Yang for them; I didn’t expect you to have them here too,”

Liao Yifan had initially considered asking Guo Yang if he had such items in his Space, but since he was a man, she hadn’t quite mustered the courage to ask, so she had come to ask Su Jin for leave first. To her surprise, Su Jin had them.

“Feel free to use them. I have plenty more in my Space. Guo Yang probably only has diapers,” Su Jin couldn’t help but laugh when she recalled what Guo Yang had collected in the mall previously.

“Diapers? Why would he collect diapers?” Liao Yifan asked, puzzled.

“Ahem, maybe he was planning to sell them.”

If Su Jin mentioned that at the time, Guo Yang had collected not only diapers but also a lot of baby formula for Liao Yifan, she would probably have run after Guo Yang again.

This early in the morning, to avoid a bloodbath, she decided to keep Guo Yang’s secret for the time being.

“Fanfan, you must be very careful at home, don’t open the door for anyone,” Guo Yang said worriedly to Liao Yifan. Last time Su Jin was home alone, a big incident occurred. Now that Liao Yifan was home, he was a bit worried.

“Just go already, you’re as naggy as Tang Monk,” Liao Yifan pushed Guo Yang, who was caught off guard and was pushed a few meters away.

“Tang Monk is indeed very naggy, not a good master at all.”

Nie Qing expressed his opinion, criticizing the hopelessly rigid and useless master who always had his disciples look for food for him.

As they were about to leave, Xue Wanyi was somewhat speechless. He was the driver today, and the single men Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin had already boarded the car, while Guo Yang was still giving endless instructions to Liao Yifan. Lu Hao stood at the door seeming to wait for Guo Yang, his gaze never leaving Su Jin.

Early in the morning, they were torturing singles again.

Local Tyrant Gold had gotten used to clinging to Lu Hao these days. As soon as they exited the door, it naturally jumped onto Lu Hao’s shoulder. Lu Hao didn’t comment since the little monkey, besides liking to sit in the front row, wasn’t really noisy, so he let it be.

Su Jin and his family were almost ready, eyeing the three prepared cars, Liao Yifan felt a bit envious. Women were troublesome, she thought. Remembering she wouldn’t be able to do missions for the next few days made her terribly sad. Luckily, there were some gym equipment in the basement placed by Su Jin, so she could go down there to work out if she really felt the itch.

“Everyone, be careful,” Lu Hao finally couldn’t help saying before boarding the car.

“Yes, you too,”

Su Jin replied and then got into the car. Although the destinations of the three cars were different, they left at the same time.

The staff of the villa area watched the cars drive out of the main gate with admiration.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

The bosses were off to kill zombies so early in the morning; they were working too hard. Some staff even voluntarily cleaned up in front of their homes.

Su Jin noticed that the streets, which had been cleaned in the previous days, slowly began to accumulate zombies again. These must have come from other places. They found a pre-apocalypse food street and started clearing the zombies while checking if any roadside shops had food vacuum packaging machines.

Eventually, Mao Zhihang found such a machine in a shop that sold marinated beef, but the matching vacuum bags were few.

“Everyone, come look at this!”

Lin Cheng called everyone over.

It turned out that next to the machine, there was a label with the brand name of the vacuum packaging machine and a factory address, which was actually located in S city!

If they could find this factory, they could find more of those machines and vacuum bags.

“Uncle, is this address far?”

Su Jin asked Mao Zhihang, who had recently been studying with a map besides practicing his Special Ability.

Mao Zhihang unfolded the map he carried with him, and after checking, pointed to the area, and said, “It’s not too far but not too close either; it will take about 40 minutes by car.”

“This area has few zombies; can we make it there?” Su Xiangzhe asked, looking at the area Mao Zhihang pointed out.

“Yes, let’s go. Even if something happens, today we can enter the ‘Space,'”

Su Jin said with a smile, realizing that everyone following today was family. She didn’t know if Lu Hao had arranged this on purpose, but it certainly made things a lot easier.

“Now that you mention it, I’ve just realized that too. What are we waiting for, then? Let’s go,” Xiuyuan said.

He was eager to encounter some Mutated Zombies, especially Ice Element ones, since he felt his Special Ability was close to leveling up.
