Chapter 377 Pet Assessments
When the token was scanned, a transparent magical barrier shrouded them.
Outsiders were not able to see what was going on inside, but this somehow startled the Mini Earthrender, especially when the platform started ascending without any warning.
It chirped nervously and buried its small, rocky head on Xu Feng clothes.
Xu Feng sighed softly at its nervousness, and decided to take a selfie shot at this moment.
Surely, some female players who idolized cute things might be baited by this sight of the Mini Earthrender. If so, he could use it as mascot and bait them into joining his guild.
'Oh, I'm such a genius.' Xu Feng praised himself silently, feeling gleeful.
Sometime later, the platform stopped its ascension and they had arrived at the 5th floor. The Pet Association had a total of sixth floor, meaning the upper management was probably located there.
"Alright, stop burying your head on my clothes." Xu Feng said and walked out of the platform, searching for his assigned elite tier room.
Suddenly, at this moment, he saw a woman carrying a ferret-like creature on her arm walking out. She was all smiley, until she noticed Xu Feng taking a glance at her.
Swiftly, her expression turned stoic and became quite tense.
As the two walked past each other, the ferret on her arm suddenly squealed and hissed at the Mini Earthrender on Xu Feng's shoulder.
Alarmed, the woman glanced at her ferret and asked, "What's the matter, Sprites?"
Her ferret, nicknamed as Sprites, seemed to ignore her question and was acting quite aggressive toward the Mini Earthrender.
However, her aggression was mostly a disguise to conceal its fear from a predator. To act aggressive and strong to deter a predator from going after it was quite common.
That was Xu Feng's guess, given the ferret's body was trembling visibly.
"It appears that your pet is afraid of mine," Xu Feng calmly said and held the Mini Earthrender by its arm, concealing its sight from the ferret.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Sure enough, the ferret itself calmed shortly.
"I-I see…" The woman nodded, unable to register that her ferret was frightened. Such an incident had rarely occurred and it was the first time she had bought it out to test its potential and growth.
"Thanks for the advice." She then said, and proceeded to introduce herself, "I'm Scarlett, and this here is my pet, Sprites."
"I'm Lin Feng and this little buddy is Mini Earthrender." Xu Feng responded.
"Eh, but isn't that its species name?" Scarlett raised an eyebrow.
She hadn't had much practical experience with pets, but she was knowledgeable of most species. Thus, she recognized the Mini Earthrender origin.
"Huh? You know about its species?" Stunned, Xu Feng didn't expect someone to know about it. After all, the Earthrender rarely revealed itself to many people, and Yaren was one of the exceptions.
Therefore, information regarding Earthrender should have been hard to find.
"Yes, I have an encyclopedia of many species listed." Scarlett revealed and her eyes marveled at the sight of the Earthrender.
Initially, she didn't know what the species were, but thanks to Xu Feng's hint, she was astonished to actually witness one.
"I've heard that most of their species are gone, with only a few left in hiding. I didn't expect to see a newborn."
"Yeah, I was lucky to stumble in a dark place and find it." Xu Feng smoothly gave a random excuse.
Alas, his random excuse prompted Scarlett to furrowed her brows.
"If you don't want to reveal the source, then don't say it." She said in an unamused tone.
"Earthrender's species required ambient light and warm temperature to be born. If it's really a dark place, then there's no chance of it being alive."
Adjusting his glasses, Xu Feng was surprised to really see an expert in knowledge regarding the species and its preferred habitat.
However, being knowledgeable was one thing. Knowing how to apply them in effect was another, especially when she was confused as to why her ferret reacted quite aggressively.
"Alright, you've got me." Xu Feng waved his hand and said, "I still have to enter the pet assessment room, so I won't bother you any longer."
Continue your adventure at empire
With that said, he turned around and continued his walk to the room that Scarlett had just exited from.
"A newborn Earthrender… I recall there was another lore revolving around it when there's a newborn." Scarlett murmured, seemingly trying to recall some of the details, but couldn't remember.
In the end, she shook her head and decided to head back down to the lower floor and buy some snacks for her ferret.
"Let's go, Sprites." She rubbed its fluffy fur and entered the platform.
…
"So this is the elite tier room," Xu Feng glanced at the equipment and scenery. Everything was sparkly neat and clean, a far cry from the ones he had used in the past.
After all, his pet was quite mediocre, being only at the Epic rarity. There wasn't a need for him to rent an elite tier room when an advanced tier room was adequate.
Additionally, when he used it back then, there were already many players acquiring pets for themselves, rendering the tier room's functionality to decrease in effect.
"Being first in a lot of things was really great." Xu Feng smiled, and released his grip on the Mini Earthrender, allowing him to run around the spacious area.
As the Mini Earthrender enjoyed itself, Xu Feng activated the Focus Orb to boost the concentration and recovery rate, and then proceeded to modify the settings of the room.
He adjusted the magical runes and formations to closely monitor the Mini Earthrender's energy fluctuations, movement patterns, and inherent abilities.
The personalized training environment began to shift, adapting to simulate terrains that would challenge the Mini Earthrender's earth-based nature, such as rocky outcrops and shifting grounds, all while Xu Feng carefully observed the data being collected on the pet's potential and strengths.
"Damn, as expected of its Legendary rarity!" Xu Feng murmured in amazement as details of the Mini Earthrender started being listed.
What do you think?
