Chapter 103: Chapter 103 Hunter And Prey (Final)
In mid air, the Wind Splitting Mantis' wings vibrated fiercely, creating a buzzing sound. It then surged through the dark green water column, though half of its body had completely disintegrated, evidently corroded by the toxic water.
"You didn't dodge?"
The pupils of the Ghost Snake Elder constricted suddenly. He had assumed that Blaze Regret would be reluctant to lose his spirit puppet and would have it retreat before being hit by the venomous cascade, thus giving him time to escape. Clearly, he had miscalculated.
In the distance, Blaze Regret watched the Wind Splitting Mantis flying towards the Ghost Faced Snake, his expression calm.
"It's just a spirit puppet. As long as I can eliminate the Ghost Snake Elder, it's a price worth paying. Moreover, I hadn't planned on taking it along for the upcoming training anyway."
"Swish!"
A sharp sound of slicing wind echoed as the Wind Splitting Mantis reached the Ghost Faced Snake. Its scythe like claws, resembling the grim reaper's, fully extended and slashed down in an intersecting motion.
The Ghost Faced Snake, having just unleashed its venomous cascade, had clearly exhausted much of its spiritual power. In its hurried defense, its broken tail failed to provide any resistance and were split open by the Wind Splitting Mantis.
"Hiss!"
The Ghost Faced Snake's painful cry was abruptly cut off as the Wind Splitting Mantis' claw decapitated it swiftly, piercing through and skewering its body.
At the moment of the Ghost Faced Snake's death, the Ghost Snake Elder spat a mouthful of blood. He looked up at the gleaming tail of the Wind Splitting Mantis, terror written on his face. "I am a member of the Blazing Gold Batas Shop. Is your Blaze family looking to make an enemy of the Angsana Pavilion?"
"Don't worry, Mat Kun will be joining you soon."
Ignoring the Ghost Snake Elder's threat, Blaze Regret commanded the Wind Splitting Mantis to deliver the final blow.
The Ghost Snake Elder's eyes widened in disbelief as a line of blood quickly appeared across his throat.
Moments later, the noisy forest finally fell silent once more.
Confirming that the Ghost Snake Elder was dead, Blaze Regret severed his connection with the Wind Splitting Mantis and leaned against a thick tree trunk, exhaling deeply.
"Aren't you upset?" Master Magi glanced at the fallen Wind Splitting Mantis and looked at Blaze Regret in surprise.
"You can't rely on that thing to defeat Katis Van," Blaze Regret said with a smile, though the curve of his lips was rather cold.
From start to finish, he hadn't forgotten the scene that unfolded on the plaza during his spiritual awakening. If anything had gone wrong back then, he might have ended up just like the Ghost Snake Elder on the ground, nothing more than a cold corpse.
"Hehe, well said," Master Magi laughed with satisfaction. If Blaze Regret had chosen to keep that spirit puppet, he would have doubted his own judgment. Fortunately, Blaze Regret did not disappoint him.
Walking slowly to the Ghost Snake Elder's corpse, a fiery glow flashed from Blaze Regret's shoulder. With a light probe of its Cat like claw, a gust of flame swept through, and the Ghost Snake Elder's Void Realms stone fell into Blaze Regret's hand with a snap.
"Quite a bit of assets here. This pile must be worth about a hundred thousand gold coins."
Blaze Regret let out a cold laugh. Beside the coins was a token exclusive to the Blazing Gold Batas Shop, which he tossed aside as garbage without a second thought.
Other than the gold coins, the Ghost Snake Elder's void Realms stone contained only a few Qi-replenishing pills.
For ordinary spirit masters, any gold they had would typically be used to enhance their spirit beasts' abilities, so they usually didn't possess much wealth. Having a hundred thousand gold coins, like the Ghost Snake Elder, was considered moderately well off.
"Time to head back," Blaze Regret said.
Blaze Regret lifted his face and looked at the sky, which was beginning to pale slightly. His soft sigh echoed through the forest.
At this moment, Blaze Regret had no idea what chaos had erupted in Veloria City.
"Have you heard? Someone found half of Pit Rock's body on top of a house next to Fourth Street. It was a gruesome sight!"
"Pit Rock? Isn't he the genius of Veloria City? He advanced from a spirit novice to a spirit warrior in just a few years, and now he's dead? Is that true?"
"Of course it's true. When I opened my window this morning, the place was swarming with people from the Blaze family, all looking murderous. It scared me into closing the window right away. Later, I heard that the young master of the Blaze family was ambushed and killed last night!"
"Wow, this is explosive news. With Blaze Ash's personality, this is going to blow up big time!"
Whether on the streets or in the taverns, everyone was fervently discussing the event, spittle flying as they speculated about what had happened the previous night.
"Patriarch, why hasn't the Great Elder returned yet?"
Atop the Snow family's tall building, Snow Ahmad looked down at the constantly emerging crowd, his brows slightly furrowed.
"Who knows? Maybe after taking out that Blaze Regret kid, he's hiding somewhere to avoid being discovered by Blaze Ash and his people."
Snow Fazlin stood with his hands behind his back, looking down at the anxious faces of the Blaze family members, a cruel smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
With Snow Azrul's strength, eliminating Blaze Regret, a second tier spirit warrior, would be a piece of cake.
"Good riddance!"
Beside him, Snow Ahmad laughed heartily, "It's a pity I didn't get to see that kid's corpse; otherwise, I'd chop him into mincemeat and throw it into the alley to feed the dogs."
"But how do we explain Pit Rocks death?"
Thinking about this, Snow Fazlin showed some confusion in his eyes.
"Who knows? Maybe he provoked some big shot and got casually killed," Snow Ahmad said indifferently.
