Chapter 92 Welcome To My Life!
Hugo's legs carried him toward the club's exit with all the grace of a man who desperately wanted to disappear.
Well, actually, he DESPERATELY wanted to disappear!
The neon lights cast flickering shadows across the crowd, and every step closer to freedom made his prayers to the goddess of luck even more frantic.
At the rate things were going, he was almost about to be completely converted. All that remained was to find a temple...
"Please, Goddess of Luck, if you're real, don't let them notice me. I promise I'll never sneak into a strip club ever again. Okay, maybe once more—but only if there's a really good reason. Just let me out of here alive, and I'll donate to… to whatever shrine you've got."
His hand reached for the door handle. 'Just one more push, and he'd be out. Jessica was probably waiting outside. Hopefully, she hadn't decided to leave or worse—fall into the clutches of some random smooth-talking guy.'
But just as his fingers brushed the handle, a heavy hand clamped down on his shoulder.
Thud!
Hugo froze like a deer caught in headlights. His knees wobbled, and a nervous laugh escaped his lips. 'Oh no. Oh no. This is it. My life's over. I'm going to die. Or worse, turned into an eunuch!'

Slowly—painfully slowly—he turned his head to look over his shoulder.
The mask of the Spiderman hoodie made the process look even more ridiculous, like a stiff, robotic owl attempting to swivel.
There was not an ounce of superhero courage in his movements.
Behind him stood one of the woman in the red dress' entourage—a burly man with a buzz cut and sunglasses that were far too dark for the dim club.
The guy had muscles that could probably bench press Hugo and his bike. He folded them into an intimidating pose and glowered down at his poor target.
Hugo's thoughts raced. 'Why me? Out of everyone here, why me? Is it because I didn't tip the dancers? Or is it the hoodie? Did Spiderman piss someone off in this universe?'
The bodyguard's face was impassive as he spoke. "The boss wants to see you."
Hugo gulped, his mind spinning. 'The boss? The boss? Oh no, she's figured out who I am. She knows I'm the guy who ran away from the gang. Or worse, she probably already knows I am the runaway thief!'
Gathering what little courage he had, Hugo activated his Aura of Alpha.
His presence surged for a moment, giving him just enough confidence to puff out his chest—though the effect was slightly ruined by the Spiderman mask.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"What's up?" Hugo said, his voice artificially deep.
The bodyguard raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "The boss wants a word. Now."
Hugo took a step back, shaking his head. "Uh, yeah, no thanks. I'm a little busy escaping—I mean, leaving. I don't think I'm the guy you're looking for."
The bodyguard frowned. "You don't say no to the boss."
"Well, guess what?" Hugo said, his voice breaking slightly. "I just did. So, uh, bye!"
He tried to turn back to the door, but the bodyguard grabbed his arm. "You're coming with me, one way or another."
Hugo panicked. His mind went blank for a second before instinct took over. He raised his knee and delivered a swift, desperate kick to the bodyguard's… sensitive area.
Bam!
The man's eyes widened, and he let out a strangled groan before crumpling to the floor.
"Sorry, big guy!" Hugo yelled, already sprinting toward the exit. "Nothing personal!"
Outside the club, Jessica stood near Hugo's bike, tapping her foot impatiently.
A tall, sexy guy with a confident smirk was leaning against a lamppost, his designer jacket glinting under the streetlights.
"You know," the guy was saying, his voice smooth as honey, "a girl like you shouldn't be standing here alone. What kind of man leaves a beauty like you waiting?"
Jessica rolled her eyes but didn't move. Sure, this guy was attractive, and his cologne smelled expensive, but she wasn't feeling it. Still, it had been five minutes since Hugo ran inside.
"Maybe I should just leave," she muttered under her breath. But then she remembered Hugo's kind smile and how easy their conversation had been at the bar.
He wasn't like the other guys she'd met tonight. There was something genuine about him.
"No thanks," she said to the smooth-talker. "I'm waiting for someone."
The guy chuckled, clearly not taking the hint. "Come on, sweetheart. He's obviously not coming back. Why waste your time?"
Before Jessica could respond, a loud commotion from the club's entrance caught their attention.
The doors burst open, and a guy in a Spiderman hoodie came barreling out, running like his life depended on it.
Heck, he looked like a failed villain in a superhero costume!
Jessica blinked. "Is that…?"
"Hugo!" the hoodie-clad man screamed. "Run to the bike!"
Jessica's jaw dropped. "Wait, how does he know my—" But then he pulled back the hood, revealing his panicked face.
"Hugo?! What the hell are you—"
Before she could finish, she saw two men chasing after him, one of them holding his stomach like he'd just been hit in the worst way possible.
Jessica couldn't help it—she laughed. The sheer absurdity of the situation made it impossible not to. "Alright, Spiderman," she said, grinning. "Let's go!"
Hugo dashed past her, already fumbling with the bike keys. "No time for questions! Just get on!"
Jessica threw one last glance at the smooth-talker, who stood there dumbfounded. With a shrug, she hopped onto the bike behind Hugo, adrenaline rushing through her veins.
As the engine roared to life, she wrapped her arms around Hugo's waist, her laughter bubbling up again. "You're insane, you know that?"
"Welcome to my life!" Hugo yelled back as the bike sped off into the night, leaving the chaos of the strip club far behind.
