Chapter 256 Stalemate
"All ye who enter here shall join the ingot and shall be ground to nothing." Its voice bellowed, a strange vibration accompanying it.
I backstepped in shock and surprise, far from afraid. I was in awe, this thing looked like it was carved out of myths. The ethereal feel it gave, the giant hammer beating against an ingot, it was like something out of a folktale.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
And then it jumped to attack. It swung its massive hammer at me, coming for my right flank. The hammer, which was larger than I was, came with a pent-up ferocity, but my senses were sharp and I called out <Haven> before I was struck.
CLANG!
The massive hammer bounced back, and my energy shield cracked. I gritted my teeth from the tension. Before my projection shield could repair itself, the ghostwave spun, following up with a strike that used its momentum.
And once again, there was a loud clang. I was pushed back this time around, and the mythical hammer swung back from the collision.
Sweat dripped from my face, this was all too exhilarating. I smiled, feeling quite excited. The hybrid on the other hand was as stoic as they come, it was like a killing machine, and I was its prey. It was tall, about three times taller than I was, and I was a man of five foot and eleven inches, practically making it a giant.
I was a lot more captivated by the way it wielded the hammer. The thing was undoubtedly heavy and it had it in its hands as if it was one flimsy stick, that told of the great strength behind it.
'Is this Suphas?' It better be, there was no way I was going to face someone even stronger than this.
I saw its right foot tense, force building on it, and then whoosh! It came at me, almostbinstantaneously at my front.
It went for an overarching blow from the top, the hammer coming down decisively.
I saw the power behind that blow, there was no way <Haven> would withstand the blow and instead, I teleported out of harm's way.
I levitated in the middle of the room, just by the ingot. The house owner looked up and stared at me. And then it repeated the words.
"All ye who enter here shall join the ingot and shall be ground to nothing." It was like it was a soulless machine merely following a certain programming.
What it did next was unexpected. It swung its arm, and the hammer left its grip, circling to me.
"What the?!"
The hammer came at an unbelievable speed, and there, I realized that though I knew I was fast, I underestimated my own speed. The hammer came at me at light speed, and it was just by me, my teeth gritted to the point that they may break. Enjoy more content from empire
I activated <teleportation>, and again I avoided harm just by a hair length. I teleported beneath, my feet on the ground.
The ghostwave hybrid jumped as the hammer circumvented to him– gracefully avoiding hitting things. It caught it by the handle and spun, both he and the hammer above me.
And again, I teleported out of harm's way, this time however, I summoned my advanced grand rocks once I got teleported. I was in the defense spot too much, and everyone knows that offense was the best defense.
I sent my rocks hurling at the mythical thing, five of them, coated with elements.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The ghostwave struck them all with its hammer, swaying the massive thing and swiftly hitting my rocks just before they hit. The rocks rebound with each strike but I sent them again, and for a short time–the reprieve I needed, the hybrid ghostwave was busy with my rocks.
I got the little time I needed and equipped both the <Wyvern Blade>, and the <Draconic Dagger>. I sent dark flames through them both. To defeat this thing, I needed to give all that I could.
It struck and defended itself gracefully, and at some point I could see nothing but sparks.
'Just how does it swing that fast?'
I shook my head, and teleported above it, and immediately, it turned to me, looking up.
Seeing that it did, I stiffened and sent a rush of dark flames at it.
'Let see you survive this.' The flames fell, the target still busy, but then I heard a ring, my dark flames still dousing it.
My eyes widened once I realized what was wrong, and I drifted to the side, barely avoiding it. The ghostwave hybrid had created a shield by hitting the hammer's bottom to the ground, and a round force field blocked both the flames and the rocks, and then it came at me, the shield still about it.
It barrelled towards me, I had barely avoided it. I looked at my side, by my right where it grazed, and I saw my flesh cook. I cringed in pain, while my active regeneration skill did the work.
That wasn't the end however, it came at me, zooming my way.
'It can fly?'
The massive hammer was pointed forward, intending on hitting me, but I, with my quick thinking and from my battle instincts, I sent my rocks that hovered below, and then directed them at the golden bubble that held the otherworldly thing.
BOOM!
A blinding light emanated from the strike, and I was blown back, hitting a wall. I fell on my knees, and from there, I looked up to see that the ghostwave was in the same position. It was kneeling, holding down the hammer for support, and by it, I saw two of my rocks crumbling, the other three hovering in between us.
The collision had destroyed two of my advanced grand rocks, something that I hadn't thought was possible, dark flames didn't damage them, but the blow did?
I frowned in anger and sent my remaining rocks to my opponent, and again, its golden bubble came up, protecting it. My rocks bounced off upon hitting it.
None has hit the other, we were at a stalemate.
'Just what is this thing?'
What do you think?
