The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 460 The Bridge in the Sky

The leaders left in haste, Hubris told them they had only a day to get their things in order and they would all leave for Asgard immediately after.

The most important reason they needed the day was to build the bridge they've been building all across the worlds, to connect this one to Asgard, so that they could also be safe from random invasions.

They hadn't considered building one connecting to the underworld but now they had every reason to. As strong as Kiro was with his vibrations, jumping every being to Asgard would drain him dry and whose to say they wouldn't arrive up there while they were in the middle of a fight.

"Get with it Hubris, I'm anxious I don't know why."

Hubris was still in his head though, thinking. He had been thinking about where the bridge would be, long and hard. He had little kids around his castle but he also didn't want it to be so far away that they would need to walk a good distance before reaching it.

There was also the possibly of any person from the underworld to stumble upon the bridge, not knowing what it was and accidently fall in. There was no time to explain to everyone what this was, being King was rubbing him the wrong way.

The fact that every decision he made, needed for him to consider millions of others was a pain on his side.

"Hubris?" Kiro yanked him out of his stupor.

"Uh, yes, master?"

"The bridge?"

"I'm thinking, I'm thinking!"

"What about?"

"Where it should be. I can't really make it too accessible for obvious reasons."

Kiro thought for a second. He pointed to the heavens, "what about up there?"

Hubris looked up, "how would they get up there?"

"With your gravity of course? Make it so that you have to be a certain strength in order for the gravity to take you up there. That way, your children and everyone else who isn't strong enough are safe."

Hubris showed what he thought was a genuine smile but having a maw and those razor sharp teeth made that hard to be expressed.

"Very clever, now why didn't I think of that! Thank you Master." He didn't wait for Kiro to say anything, he jumped into the sky and within seconds a hole in the sky appeared, dark and inviting.

Kiro wasn't even looking at his surroundings when little Kiro appeared out of nowhere attempting to jump into where the hole directly looked on the ground.

If it was anyone else they would've reacted much later but Kiro merely extended his arm right on time and snatched the little hound by the scruff of his neck.

"You shouldn't interfere when your dad is working."

He tried to wriggle himself out but when he failed he looked Kiro right in the eyes. "I heard everything that was said, I want to, I want to fight too. I'm strong enough!"

Kiro tried to not laugh but failed, he put him down.

"I'll give you one single chance. If you can touch me, if you can put so much as a stretch on me, I'll concede that you're indeed ready for the battlefield!" He wasn't kidding, he wanted to gauge his potential. See where he was compared to Hubris back then.

He expected for the little cub to complain about how he was just small and Kiro was big but that was a mistake on his part because a smirk formed on his face and he jumped at the opportunity to spar with someone stronger than his father.

He moved as fast as he could muster, with his claws out ready to scratch Kiro menacingly. To his young self, it seemed he was moving lightning fast but to Kiro, he could have sworn he was watching him come in slow motion.

Kiro waited until the very last moment to actually move out the way, the kid was already smiling smugly thinking he'd gotten him. Kiro didn't even activate any skill, he just swayed out of the way.

"There goes your opportunity, you still have much to learn."

"Not fair, give me another one!" He was already walking slowly and very low, ready to attack again.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"You only get one chance in life, I'll tell you this. If you can keep training, when we're done with what you're doing, if I deem you worthy I'll train you myself like I did your father."

The young hellhound considered the words for a second, he didn't have hope that he could actually scratch Kiro as he was, so the offer to him was enticing. Having been told of their adventures together, he wanted one too.

"Alright, I'll train and wait." He answered cheerfully.

He understood that as the oldest of his siblings, he was expected to be the King after his father getting to train with someone like Kiro would be of great help.

'The yearning for power is stronger with this one, of Hubris isn't careful he might just surpass him and demand the throne.'

Amongst Hellhounds this wasn't unheard of it was actually encouraged. If young Kiro could actually beat his father in a duel he would be made King. The law of the underground was that, they followed the strong.

"What are you two whispering about...." Hubris asked as he descended the heavens, done with creating the bridge.

"He offered to train me after the war!" He said with more excitement than he intended.

"If you're strong enough. I met your father when he was a little older than you, he'd survived Asgard all on his own, if you can surpass the him as a pup I'll do it!" Kiro quickly amended and made the terms clear.

Hubris let out a chuckle, his master training his son, the future King of Abaddon was more than he could've asked for.

"It would be an honour master, thank you!"

They all walked into the castle, the bridge was just outside and from a distance they could see hundreds of beings heading their way, soon, it would be time to go back.
