This handgun was used to assassinate Archduke Ferdinand and was considered ominous at the Imperial Assembly. If one were caught stealing it, they would most likely end up on the gallows.

If Charlotte turned her back, she would only have one path to death.

If Charlotte wanted to monopolize this Extraordinary Weapon, she would also have only one path to death.

Charlotte pondered for a long time, sighed, and said, "You have never picked up anything, and you must never mention this matter again, otherwise no one can save you."

"As for your advancement to knighthood, I will do my utmost to help."

Charlotte only made one promise to Homonsa.

At the moment, she couldn't offer anything else.

As to whether Homonsa would accept this outcome, Charlotte could not control it anymore.

This handgun that shot dead Archduke Ferdinand was a very dangerous thing. If she had a choice, Charlotte absolutely did not want to touch it.

But since Homonsa had brought it up, Charlotte couldn't possibly let Homonsa take it away. She would definitely continue to choose to sell this Extraordinary Object. Once this Extraordinary Handgun appeared and was exposed in any underground black market, it would attract attention, and Charlotte would definitely be implicated. Who could blame her when Homonsa was her subordinate?

Moreover, she had already been involved in this matter before.

To be honest, if it weren't for Menilman's protection, Charlotte doubted whether she'd even be alive, let alone have her position restored and be promoted two ranks. The probability of being silenced was quite high.

After all, this was related to the declaration of war between two great Empires.

Homonsa wanted to say something, but in the end, her expression turned dim, and she prepared to leave the office.

Charlotte hesitated for a moment, then said, "Don't mention this to Mason and the others, or you will cause their deaths."

Homonsa trembled slightly, quickly lowered her head, and walked out of the office.

Half an hour later, Madam Nancy arrived, accompanied by Anne, Silvie, and the cat elf Detective Vinnie Yarsaenu.

The three ladies had met at Elysian Pastoral Street No. 58, all abandoning their carriages to come together with Madam Nancy.

Vinnie Yarsaenu was the witness to the duel and naturally had to go, while Anne and Silvie, one a "half-step girlfriend" and the other a "cousin," both had appropriate statuses and reasons to observe the duel.

Charlotte had nothing to say, took the Extraordinary Handgun, and followed the three ladies on their way.

He placed the handgun that killed Archduke Ferdinand with the diary, hoping that the power of the two Evil Gods might cause some fortune-telling Transcendent's predictions to fail.

Once at Machu Picchu, Charlotte planned to discard it in that Labyrinth Fortress.

The Anti-Space Sniper Rifle given to him by Lord Leo was thick and long, with a huge barrel, and it could fire Magic-Breaking Bombshell Bullets, giving it the power to kill a High-Level Transcendent.

This handgun could have such power to kill Archduke Ferdinand, it surely was not ordinary, but Charlotte had no intention of inspecting its quality. He feared that he could not resist claiming it for himself.

Greed is the enemy of life.

Just as money is the root of all evil.

Throughout the journey, Miss Annie was very quiet, her complexion was resolute, as if she had made some kind of decision.

Silvie, on the other hand, was full of worries, repeatedly advising Charles to be cautious and to quickly concede defeat and surrender if he found himself at a disadvantage.

Generally speaking, gentlemen's duels are willing to spare those who surrender...

Of course, Charles believed that "Mister Alva" certainly wouldn't spare him – what gentleman would prioritize being merciful over avenging his brother?

Vini Yarsaenu appeared indifferent, hardly speaking along the way, just gazing out of the window at the passing scenery, lost in thought.

Strasbourg is more than two hundred kilometers from Machu Picchu. Converting to this world's units of distance is really troublesome. Charles, a mathematics teacher, disliked the Old Continent's system of measurement and weight.

Charles had spent two Aegeus to purchase this two-year-old Brabant draft horse, which, in its category, was quite tall and robust. Its color was a mix of gray and black, a typical pinto, not very pleasing to the eye, but incredibly hardy. It could easily pull a four-wheeled carriage and run at a top speed of twenty kilometers per hour for over an hour.

If traveling at a more stamina-preserving slow trot, it could run for four to five hours at a speed of around eight to ten kilometers per hour.

The draft horses of the Old Continent had much more strength and endurance than the horses on Earth, but they still were flesh and blood and couldn't run continuously. However, with enough rest stops along the way, leaving Strasbourg in the afternoon, Charles and his companions could arrive in Machu Picchu on time the next day.

Charles made ample preparations. After leaving Strasbourg, he opened a barrel of barley beer and offered it to the three young ladies.

Vini Yarsaenu was quite hearty, drinking a few cups with Charles. Annie, however, was extremely anxious and could not drink anything at all.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Silvie initially refused to drink, but soon couldn't resist and ended up drinking too much.

As evening approached, Charles asked Madam Nancy to stop the carriage. They had not come across any villages to rest in along the way, but Charles planned on traveling no further. For one, the horse couldn't take it, and secondly, traveling at night was too dangerous.

He gave up the front cabin to the three ladies and planned to go to the rear cabin. There were no tents in the Old Continent, and with dangers lurking everywhere in the wilderness of the Old Continent, no one would choose a tent—a sleeping tool with no protective power that could hinder a quick escape.

Just as Charles stepped off the carriage, he saw a lady standing right in front of them. She was about forty or fifty years old and exuded a dignified and luxurious air. However, her clothes made her status clear – she wasn't a noble's wife but rather a housekeeper.

Charles was greatly surprised and instinctively reached for the Vampiric Hand Axe. Yet, the housekeeper performed a lady's daily curtsy and said, "Mister Mecklen, I've come to take Miss Annie home."

Charles returned the salute of the Empire and asked, "Who might you be?"

The housekeeper raised her voice slightly and said, "Annie, your excursion is over!"

Anne Brittany got down from the carriage, looking quite unwell, and said, "Mama Karen, may I not return?"

The housekeeper called Mama Karen shook her head with a mix of indulgence and firmness and said, "Annie, I can only allow that thing to be lost for three days, and that's already the biggest concession."

"The count will definitely not allow his daughter to not come home at night."

Annie struggled for a good while before saying dejectedly, "I'll go back with you!"

She handed over something wrapped in newspaper that she had hidden under her skirt to Charles and said softly, "Start using this weapon when the duel begins!"

"I will be waiting for you at Elysian Pastoral Street No. 58 tomorrow and the day after."

Mama Karen nodded to the two ladies who had also stepped out of the carriage and said to Charles, "Don't lose it, the consequences would be severe."

Then her entire body radiated a dazzling glow and, with a hand on Annie, they rose into the air...
