Chapter 61- The Mysterious Ring (2)
61 Chapter 61- The Mysterious Ring (2) Nôv(el)B\\jnn
No matter how many times, Yang Chen called out to him, the guy never responded. He had planned on surprising Amon with his new constitution and ask him about the other abilities of it. However, the demon carrying its little trident never showed up like he usually did.
"Did something happen to him?" Yang Chen couldn't help but wonder. Ever since that fight with Zhang Zhan where he lost consciousness, he had lost all contact with Amon.
He had no idea what had happened back then after he passed out, so he could only be positive about the whole situation.
Finishing his meal, Yang Chen inspected his surroundings using the [Map]. He had no clue that the star forest jungle was so huge. From what he could guess looking at the [Map], he was hundreds of kilometres north from the middle region of the forest where he previously was.
So if he wanted to get out of this forest, he would have to go south. Yang Chen closed the menu and reclined against the cave wall. As he lazed around for a bit and waited for the Special Ability [Wave of Anihilation] to come off cooldown, he played with the ring on his right index finger.
For some reason, the demonic beasts do not approach the area near the cave, as if they are afraid of something. Yang Chen did not know what they were so afraid of, but thanks to them being scared it gave him a perfect resting spot.
"Hm?" As Yang Chen was playing with the ring, he suddenly noticed a faint violet light emitting from it before waning away almost immediately.
Curious as to what incurred that light was, he observed the ring even more closely. However, other than it being made of some special material, there was nothing unusual about it.
Thought that said, he had definitely noticed a light coming from it just a moment ago. If it wasn't his hallucination, why did the ring emit light then and not now?
What was he doing wrong? Yang Chen tried to recall what he did back then and realised something. He learned that it was possible to insert some of his battle energy into the ring.
Discovering something new, Yang Chen became bolder. He started inserting more of his battle energy and soon, he found his consciousness moving towards the ring.
The next thing he knew was he was looking inside this greyish black space filled with numerous kinds of items that floated there in a disorganised and perpetual manner.
As Yang Chen looked around, he realised that this greyish black space was something that was inside the ring. It was like an ability of sort, using which one can store things inside it. A space ring to be more exact.
On that note, this ring was much like his [Inventory]. However, his inventory had a better utility in the sense that one can keep things in an organised way there. Unlike the violet ring that had a haphazard way of storing things.
Nevertheless, the ring had quite a lot of items stored inside and Yang Chen was naturally very curious as to what all these items were. Who knew if a treasure was hiding in the midst? Just thinking about it, sent a tremor of exhilaration inside his body. Yang Chen first cupped his hands towards the corpse of the old man which he buried at the end of this cave. Since this ring belonged to that old man, he thought that he should at least show his thanks. Yang Chen was under the impression that the old man had saved him and brought him to this cave. Hence the cause of his goodwill. After Yang Chen was done showing his appreciation, he allowed his consciousness to float around the greyish black space and observed each and every item floating.
There was a variety of things inside the space ring that the old man had amassed. For starters, there was the materials that looked like it was some part of some demonic beasts, weird looking plants and flowers, minerals, vials containing some unknown liquid, medicinal pills, cauldrons, books, scrolls and various other mish mash of things.
There were so many items that Yang Chen believed it would take him quite a lot of time to go through all of them. Fortunately, he had nothing else to do right now, so there was no harm in checking the things that were stored inside this ring and see if there was anything that could come in use to him right now.
In any case, the old man had died, so he wouldn't mind Yang Chen going through his items or that's what he thought.
"What is that?" While he was glossing over the things, Yang Chen's eyes suddenly went over towards a black spear that was encapsulated inside some kind of barrier.
The spear released a black aura that distorted the space around it and had a weird powerful presence about it. Unwittingly, he found himself enthralled to it and at some unknown point, his consciousness had approached closer to it. J
ust as he was about to touch it, he felt a strong repelling force that dispersed his consciousness out of the space ring.
"This…" Stunned, he was at a loss for words. What had just happened, did that spear just forcefully push his consciousness away?
Unable to understand what just happened, Yang Chen once again inserted his consciousness inside the ring and tried to touch the spear.
The result was… he found himself repelled back once again. This happened again and again, no matter how many times he tried it, the result was all the same.
SIGH… finally giving up on the spear, Yang Chen shifted his attention to the other things floating around. It was not like the spear was the only unique thing inside the ring.
After a while of exploring and sorting out things, he understood a few things. Firstly, the items inside the ring, be it the spear, books, scrolls, vials or anything that was stored inside the barrier of sorts, couldn't be touched.
Doing so, will repel his conciseness out of this space.
Secondly, the items that were left after discounting the ones inside the barrier, could be touched. However, all of them were in a mess and needed to be sorted out first.
