Chapter 7: Strange Fist
Chapter 7: Strange Fist
Lü Zongmin was deeply unwilling to accept this outcome. He hadn’t anticipated that Liang Yuan didn’t know anything! Back then, it was Liang Yuan who had collaborated with that couple, but now she had no share of the money, nor did she know the whereabouts of the golden Buddha.
What he didn’t understand was that Liang Yuan’s sole purpose back then was to sever ties with that gang; money had never been her goal.
“D**n it! A miscalculation…” Lü Zongmin thought bitterly. He knew the couple must have fled long ago. If he wanted to find out the whereabouts of the golden Buddha, he’d have to track them down.
As for Liang Yuan, she knew about the three of them. To prevent her from providing clues to the police, she had to be eliminated.
“Take her out, and let’s get going,” Lü Zongmin sighed, his voice muffled by the mask he wore. Even so, he preferred to be cautious.
Little did he know, if he hadn’t harbored the intent to kill, Huang Ji might have let them leave. But the moment he decided to kill Liang Yuan, it crossed a line Huang Ji couldn’t allow.
“Hmm…” Huang Ji pulled out a small speaker he had dismantled earlier and triggered the alarm.
“Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!”
The shrill sound of the alarm tore through the quiet night.Lü Zongmin, lost in his thoughts, was startled by the noise outside. He immediately recalled the traps he had set.
“Is someone coming up the mountain?”
“Quick, finish the job, and then we’ll head down immediately!” Lü Zongmin barked in a low voice.
Hearing this, Huang Ji sighed inwardly. He had triggered the alarm early, thinking they might flee. Yet even now, they wouldn’t leave without silencing Liang Yuan.
Faced with this, Huang Ji stepped out of hiding.
“One, two, three, four… Two, two, three, four…”
Not only did Huang Ji step out, but he also started muttering to himself and doing calisthenics, jogging out into the open like a fool.
Lü Zongmin, still pondering who might have come up the mountain, saw a rural teenager under the moonlight, performing radio exercises and trotting over cluelessly.
“Huh?” The three men under the moonlight were dumbfounded.
“Who is that?”
“Looks like a villager from the base of the mountain. He must’ve triggered the alarm,” one of them speculated.
Lü Zongmin, growing impatient, said, “He’s asking for it. Xiao Liang, he’ll make good company for you!”
With a wave of his hand, Hu Feng stepped forward, reaching out to grab Huang Ji.
Inside the house, Liang Yuan saw Huang Ji and panicked. “Don’t hurt him! He’s just a fool! He doesn’t know anything!”
“A fool?” Lü Zongmin paused.
Indeed, Huang Ji looked like an idiot—wandering alone in the middle of the night, talking to thin air, running aimlessly outdoors.
Getting closer, Hu Feng suddenly remembered. “Oh! I saw him when I was scouting the area!”
“Yeah, he’s that famous idiot from the neighboring villages! A dimwit!”
With that, Hu Feng grabbed Huang Ji with one hand and dragged him into the house.
"Hey... let me go... let me go... Dr. Liang! You're bleeding!" Huang Ji struggled, his tone genuinely resembling someone mentally impaired.
Seeing this, Hu Feng merely held Huang Ji by the collar with disdain, showing no real vigilance. This, ironically, became Huang Ji’s advantage. Everyone already believed he was a fool—an inherent disguise. However, Huang Ji wasn’t counting on this group showing mercy to someone they thought was a simpleton. 𝐑𝘢N𝐨𝐛Ɛṣ
Lü Zongmin sneered coldly, "Idiot, you have the worst timing."
“Don’t hurt him! He’s just a fool! He doesn’t even understand what you’re doing! Please, let him go!” Liang Yuan, resigned to her fate, only wanted to save Huang Ji. To do so, she deliberately exaggerated his incompetence.
But Lü Zongmin, despite his scholarly demeanor, was a ruthless man. Instead of acting himself, he signaled Hu Feng to do the deed.
Hu Feng nodded, gripping Huang Ji with one hand and raising a knife in the other. "Fool, hope your next life’s better!"
“No! Don’t!” Liang Yuan screamed.
“Don’t hit me!” Huang Ji struggled wildly, flailing his limbs. Somehow, his hand jabbed sharply into Hu Feng’s side.
Hu Feng had been applying force, but the sudden jab caused him to lose his breath.
“Ugh… gah…” Hu Feng doubled over, his throat emitting strained noises as he gasped for air. His grip on Huang Ji loosened, and his body slumped.
Huang Ji instinctively recoiled, managing to break free.
“What are you doing, Fengzi?” Lü Zongmin exclaimed, slapping Hu Feng’s back.
Hu Feng, his mouth agape and drooling, choked on his own spit. Lü Zongmin’s slap on his back jolted him, finally helping him catch his breath. He wiped his mouth and rasped, “Dn it… what the hl… I just lost my wind bad!”
Wang Zhen burst into laughter. “Useless idiot! Are you low on calcium?”
“I’ll handle this!”
Wang Zhen picked up the knife and went straight for Huang Ji’s chest. They still underestimated the “fool.” Liang Yuan, realizing the danger, shouted, “Run! Huang Ji, run!”
But Huang Ji didn’t run. Instead, he crouched down, hands over his head, dodging Wang Zhen’s strike. His movements didn’t appear intentional; they were so early it seemed like pure luck.
Immediately after, Huang Ji sprang up and headbutted Wang Zhen squarely in the chest.
Wang Zhen, furious, suddenly felt a heavy pressure in his chest. His vision blurred, and golden stars danced before his eyes. He froze, stunned.
Taking advantage of the moment, Huang Ji performed a stretching motion like in calisthenics. Amidst the chaos, his hand randomly chopped at a spot on Wang Zhen’s underarm, about three inches toward the back.
“I… ah, ah!” Wang Zhen tried to lift the knife, but a tingling numbness spread through his arm. Half his body felt paralyzed.
“Kill him already!” Lü Zongmin shouted, furious at Wang Zhen’s incompetence.
Wang Zhen silently berated himself. How could he not defeat a fool? Switching the knife to his left hand, he lunged forward to finish the job.
But Huang Ji, seemingly coincidentally, executed another chest-expansion motion, striking a nerve in Wang Zhen’s other arm. The knife clattered to the ground.
Continuing the flow of his “exercise,” Huang Ji performed a leg kick, randomly striking Wang Zhen’s calf.
With a loud thud, Wang Zhen collapsed to his knees in front of Huang Ji, unable to stand.
“What the h**l are you kneeling for?” Lü Zongmin was stunned.
“C-cramp… cramp!” Wang Zhen, for all his brute strength, was writhing in pain from the muscle spasm.
Not only did he remain kneeling, but he also collapsed onto the ground, curling up in agony, clueless about what to do.
“Useless!” Lü Zongmin shoved Hu Feng forward, shouting, “Stop messing around and finish him off already!”
They weren’t really “messing around”—this idiot was just bizarrely lucky. His random punches and kicks had left one gasping for air and the other cramping on the floor!
By now, Hu Feng had recovered from being winded. He rushed at Huang Ji with ferocity.
Huang Ji, meanwhile, was still doing his radio exercises, muttering in a foolish tone, “Dr. Liang, Brother Wang Meng said you were kidnapped! Is it them?”
“Run!” Liang Yuan cried urgently.
Huang Ji stood there blankly, as if still processing the situation.
Hu Feng didn’t care about any of this nonsense. With brute force, he threw a punch that slammed Huang Ji against the wall.
Huang Ji clutched his stomach and, despite the pain, muttered stupidly, “That hurt!”
Then, as if oblivious to the danger, he began a torso-twisting exercise. Turning half a circle left, then right, his elbow suddenly extended and jabbed Hu Feng sharply in the waist.
“Argh!” Hu Feng yelped as if electrocuted, collapsing to the ground. His mouth hung open, his whole body stiff as he lay there, unable to move. Half his body felt numb, his facial expressions frozen in a contorted grimace.
“What are you two doing?! What’s going on?!” Lü Zongmin was beside himself with rage.
What was wrong with these two? Both were hulking men, and yet they went down after taking a couple of hits from a fool doing radio exercises?
From the ground, Wang Zhen shouted, “This kid’s a freak! Some kind of weird martial art! Ow… my cramp’s still killing me!”
“Weird martial art? He’s just doing radio calisthenics!” Lü Zongmin roared, his anger mixing with disbelief.
Lü Zongmin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. A fool doing calisthenics had somehow taken down two of his men? How ridiculous was this?Nôv(el)B\\jnn
For a moment, Lü Zongmin wondered if Huang Ji wasn’t actually an idiot. But seeing how haphazardly he had floored the two men and how he didn’t take the chance to run but instead moved to untie Liang Yuan, Lü Zongmin concluded he really was just a fool.
Liang Yuan was panicking. She didn’t know how Huang Ji had miraculously taken down the two thugs, but this was the perfect chance to escape.
“Run! Call the police! Huang Ji, get out of here!”
Huang Ji, busy untying the ropes, muttered, “Dr. Liang is hurt. I’ll carry Dr. Liang down the mountain.”
As the ropes came undone, Liang Yuan gritted her teeth, enduring the searing pain as she struggled to stand. Grabbing Huang Ji, she stumbled towards the door.
Seeing this, Lü Zongmin lunged forward, determined to kill them himself.
Though he wasn’t experienced in fighting, he figured he could handle a seriously injured woman and a fool.
“Don’t even think about leaving!” Lü Zongmin blocked the only door, gripping a knife as he advanced.
Liang Yuan let go of Huang Ji’s hand and said, “I’ll hold him off. You run—hey! No, don’t!”
She had planned to delay Lü Zongmin herself so Huang Ji could escape, but to her surprise, Huang Ji moved even faster, charging forward before she could act.
“Ahhhhhh!” Huang Ji yelled as he waved his arms in wide, windmill-like circles—resembling the infamous "Turtle Punch."
While Hu Feng and Wang Zhen were strong and muscular, Lü Zongmin was much weaker by comparison.
Huang Ji, a 16-year-old rural youth with a healthy physique and normal intelligence, didn’t need any special techniques to overwhelm Lü Zongmin.
With this chaotic flurry of punches, Lü Zongmin quickly ended up with a bruised and swollen face. Still, armed with a knife, he managed to hold his own against the seemingly “berserk” Huang Ji, exchanging blows in a back-and-forth struggle.
The two grappled, both red-faced and panting, seemingly locked in a stalemate.
Lü Zongmin fumed internally, frustrated that he couldn’t get the upper hand. How am I evenly matched with this fool? he thought. Hu Feng and Wang Zhen—those useless idiots—how did they get taken down so quickly? What kind of nonsense is this?!
The commotion grew louder, drawing the attention of the police, who had already been on their way up the mountain after hearing the earlier alarm Huang Ji deliberately triggered.
“Freeze!”
Captain Chen shouted as he burst through the door, immediately tackling both Lü Zongmin and Huang Ji to the ground.
The other officers followed, swiftly subduing everyone except for Liang Yuan.
Huang Ji didn’t resist, lying on the ground with a cheerful grin. “Brother Wang Meng, I found Dr. Liang!”
“Hey, hey, hey, Captain Chen, he’s one of ours—from our village!” Wang Meng said quickly when he saw Huang Ji.
Liang Yuan chimed in, “Huang Ji stumbled up here by accident. Those people tried to silence him, but he saved me!”
Hearing this, Captain Chen released Huang Ji, who stood up happily—then immediately started staring off into space.
Huang Ji’s tendency to zone out was well-known in the village, so no one thought much of it.
Liang Yuan quickly recounted everything that had happened. Huang Ji remained silent, dazed, while others filled in all the necessary details for him.
Meanwhile, Lü Zongmin and his group were pale with despair as they watched the police take control of the situation.
Looking at Huang Ji’s vacant, foolish expression, Lü Zongmin’s stomach churned with frustration. He couldn’t accept it.
This kid just flailed around with "Turtle Punch," and we fought to a draw?! How did Hu Feng and Wang Zhen, those muscleheads, get taken down by him?!
But dwelling on it was pointless now. With the police involved, Lü Zongmin’s thoughts turned to survival—how to defend himself and which lawyer he could hire for his case.
