The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 428 Returning To The Palace

(From Blue's Perspective)

"Do you need… my help?" I asked as I sat in the kitchen while Dem was baking a cake.

The kitchen was downstairs. Dem had not taken the chains off yet, but he added a longer one so I could go downstairs and walk around the mansion. The chain was way too long I had to admit.

I was a bit disappointed when he still did not free my hands and legs after fifteen days passed since I had woken up after getting back to Dem. Although I was a little appointed, I had not given up. His problem was a psychological disorder. Max always told me that mental illness should be hated, not the victims and they needed help.

I was ready to help him, and give him all the support he needed, just so he could get better. I did not know when I intentionally made him insecure. His insecurity surely was caused because of his obsessive nature. He felt the need to control me, have all of me, and not care about others. He just wanted me in his life and never wanted to change that.

"Um… I think something went wrong. Why is the cake still rising? I mean, shouldn't it stop?" he muttered.

"Usually, when… a cake… keeps rising, it will b-break from t-the middle," I said.

My voice had gotten better, although not as perfect as before. But an improvement made me feel better.

I still had no idea where Cyan was. He just vanished into thin air. After the day when we escaped, I had not seen him again. I was worried about him. Did he get caught?

Five minutes passed. I was right; the cake indeed broke from the middle of the top. Dem looked disappointed.

"Hey, it's… not even bad," I said quickly. "We just need… t-to see if it's baked… properly from the middle. We can eat t-that just fine."

"You don't need to say that."

"No, babe, I am… t-telling t-the truth…," I said.

The cake was a little raw from the middle of the upper side. We had to cut that part off. Then, it was edible. It also tasted amazing.

"Dem, it's good…!"

"Well, it's surprisingly not awful," he said, taking a bite of a piece of cake. "I am gonna add some cream to my piece? Want some?"

"No, i-it will… be too sweet," I said.

"Uhm… Maybe I should try to make a pumpkin spice cake. You like the scent," he said while covering the top of his cake with buttercream. I made the buttercream with the help of a cooking book.

"Just the scent… You… don't n-need to make that, Dem. We will b-be going… t-to the palace… soon, right?"

"… Hmm…"

"… Dem…?"

"Well, the tea is ready. Let me wash the cups."

Was he not going to take me back to the palace anymore? There was no way he would remove me from the Queen's position and bring someone else as his Queen. He was too much in love with me to do such a thing. Since he was the actual one with royal blood, he had the right to eliminate me from the Queen's position.

Since it was Dem in question, if he had to remove me from the Queen's position, it would be only when he would step down from the throne.

Dem surely had his plan about not taking me back to the palace. I had a feeling he just wanted some together time without anyone around us, without any work or noise, only the two of us.

My condition improved greatly within twenty days. Life in the mansion deep inside a deserted forest was not bad. I enjoyed my time since Dem was with me all the time.

He clung to me a lot more than he used to. He would comb my hair and try different hairstyles. He would bathe me almost every day even though I said I could do it myself. There was not a single moment when he was not with me.

I had been throwing up since the first day I woke up. It was because of my weak body. The throwing up still had not stopped. So, Dem was growing anxious.

One night, when I woke up, I found my hands and legs free. I was shocked. I started to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing the right thing.

Then, I noticed Dem packing some chicken soup in a pot. "What… are you doing?" I asked.

"Ah, you are up?"

"Uhm… But what are you… doing?"

"Just packing some soup for you, so you can have it later."

"Are we… going somewhere?"

"Yeah, back to the palace, where we actually belong," he said.

"We… are going t-to the palace?" I exclaimed.

"Hmm. The maids will be able to take care of you better than me alone," he said. "Besides, you might want to talk to others, not just me. I think this is the best thing I can do for you now."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

I walked around the mansion with Dem once again. It was actually a beautiful and relaxing place. It might not fit the normal beauty standards, but I loved it, and so did Dem.

It was a minimalistic mansion with only necessary items. There were no designs anywhere, on any furniture; only bold colors were used and I loved it that way.

I did not have to ask to know that Dem designed everything himself.

Dem wanted to go by horse. But I insisted on using teleportation. We had a long argument about it just before leaving.

"Come on. You are sick. You cannot use teleportation now, my love," he said.

"I am.. n-not sick!"

"Really? But you have been throwing up every single day at least once. Does that not mean something might be wrong with your health?"

"Ugh, it's… just t-that… I can still use… teleportation," I said. "Please. I haven't even shown you."

"You don't need to. I don't want you to pressure yourself."

"I won't!"

"Babe, we are going by horse. And that's final," he said dismissively. Being an Alpha and a king surely had some advantages. Even I almost felt like following him despite being his wife.

I grabbed his hand and did exactly what I wanted. Most of the time, he did not listen to me and did what he wanted. I should sometimes do the same, so he would know everything would not go like the way he wanted.

When Dem realized I had used teleportation, it was too late. We were already right in his office.

"Are you kidding me? Why would you do that?!"

"Hmph… It's the… easiest route. Just s-send… someone t-to get the horses," I said. "Your office… looks… Dem, why is i-it even cleaner than before? Have you n-not been working… here?"

"Well, you were missing. What do you expect?"

"… No work?"

He chuckled. "Don't change the subject, darling. Why would you use teleportation even when you were sick?"

"I am not… sick. It's just… I wanted t-to show… you my teleportation skills. Wasn't I… cool? There was no… light in my one, though."

"Now that you mention it, there truly was no blue light or anything like that. It was even faster and less… shaky?"

"It's never… shaky. You just… get a headache."

"I meant that," he said. "Are you really okay though?"

"I am…"

"Blue?!"

Hearing the shocked voice, I looked towards the door. Someone ran towards me and hugged me suddenly.

"Hugging someone else's wife… Tsk, why are you like this?" Dem grumbled. But he was not even angry. Rather, it looked like he did not mind at all. I was glad Dem at least did not mind this one person.

"Do you know how much we looked for you? It was so… Really, you have become a great part of us now. It doesn't feel good at all when you are not here."

"I didn't know you could cry, Luc," I chuckled.

"Right? I didn't too," he said, wiping his eyes. "You are my sister now. So, our bond is very special. Don't you dare let anyone take you away from us again!"
