Chapter 65 Eidolon Interactive
65 Eidolon Interactive
The good mood that filled the office was so obvious it was almost physical.
The employees went about their businesses with good cheer, smiling widely and interacting with each other with energy.
There was a constant stream of people in and out of the break room but I didn't mind. They were actually completing their tasks and taking well deserved breaks.
I whistled as I worked, going through the documents needed to sign off on some improvements. I had the money now to make Sunset Inn the best it can be.
I'd transferred the two hundred million to the company account and I'd never felt happier.
While a little part of my mind was wondering when the other shoe would drop, most of my mind quickly smothered it. This wasn't the time to be pessimistic.
I signed the document, placing it on the side of the table. This was where my experience from my previous life shined. I'd been in enough bad business deals to be able to sniff out the good ones by process of elimination.
The same applied to my work. I'd failed so many times at being a CEO that I definitely knew what not to do. It helped, especially in pointing out what exactly to do.
I whistled, glancing at the other documents I still needed to go through. At this point in time, things would move fast but as time goes on, it'll cool down. I'll eventually be like those club members at Pine Press who just had too much time on their hands.
I checked my watch. It was almost three. Lincoln would soon be here.
My phone rang and I picked it up. A welcome distraction from work.
I clicked it open to see it was a notification from a popular news website. I blinked as I saw the headline.
14:23
"Adams Family Scandal: First Son Confesses to Exposing Wife Margot's Affair with Younger Brother Oliver."
An involuntary laugh erupted out of me. Before long, I was laughing so hard, I had to hold my stomach.
What is this? The sweet taste of vindication?
I wiped the tears out of my eyes as my laughter tapered off into chuckles. The truth has come out and by coming out, it has set me free.
Now, if Oliver was looking for someone to drag to court, he'd have to drag his brother. And he definitely won't do that.
I chuckled again, reading through the article.
"The internet was set ablaze earlier this week when news broke of an affair between Margot Adams, wife of the Adams family's eldest son, and her brother-in-law, Oliver Adams."
I chuckled. Set ablaze. That was an understatement. The Internet had been set ablaze, stamped upon and left to rot.
The alpha male Internet personalities had content for their podcasts and Margot also had her defenders who'd come to fight back.
It had been a whole thing.
Of course, at the time, I'd been too out of it to appreciate the chaos.
I continued reading, my eyes affixed on the part that mentioned me.
My name has floated through the news as the leak, especially after Oliver's scene at my office.
But now, it has been confirmed that his elder brother had been the one to leak the affair himself. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
What a twist.
There was a knock at my open door and I glanced up to see Lincoln entering. "Mr. Voss."
"Welcome, Michael." I stood, greeting him with a handshake. "Have a seat."
He sat.
"So, I've unlocked a clause in the will?" I asked.
"For all intent and purposes, yes." He nodded, pulling out documents from his briefcase.
"I see."
"Yes. Let us begin." He said with his professional smile.
I briefly wondered if he was just as professional even with family as I nodded. "Let's."
He cleared his throat and began.
"I, Lauren Cooper, of sound mind and body, hereby declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, revoking all former wills and codicils made by me."
I listened as he read the will until he got to the clause I'd apparently unlocked.
"Upon reaching the financial milestone of increasing his net worth by fifty million dollars, my son, Nicholas Voss shall inherit my sixteen percent stake in Eidolon Interactive, effective immediately."
Eidolon Interactive? Why does that name sound familiar?
Lincoln finished his reading, closing the will. He retrieved another document, handing it to me.
"Here, Mr. Voss. The documents for Eidolon Interactive."
I collected the documents and as I went through it, he explained to me.
"Eidolon Interactive is a globally known video game developer and publisher with a valuation of eighteen billion dollars. Your stake in the company amounts to three billion dollars. Congratulations, Mr. Voss, on joining the billion dollar club."
"Thank you." I flashed him a smile before going back to what I was reading. Now, I know why the name was familiar.
Eidolon Interactive was responsible for various blockbuster games that had individually made billions in revenue.
It was also well known for its game engine which has been hailed as the best in rendering perfect photorealistic graphics and adaptive NPC framework.
"Founded in 2003 by programmer and designer, Justin Kale, Eidolon Interactive was funded by your mother Lauren Cooper. It has since grown to become an industry leader." Lincoln said.
"The company would soon hold a shareholder meeting and I believe this is a time as good as any to introduce yourself to your fellow shareholders and the board."
"Okay." I nodded.
It took some time but we finally completed everything that needed doing and once more Lincoln shook my hand before leaving.
I sat back down, staring at the document he'd left me.
I was now a proud shareholder and in one case, sole owner of three companies. Cooper Real Estate, Sunset Inn and now, Eidolon Interactive. But out of all three, Sunset Inn held a special place in my heart as the one company I'd built with my own too hands.
I sighed.
I was slowly gathering my arms for the coming war.
Very soon, I'll have to face one of my step sisters.
A step sister with actual power.
And I'd need all the firepower I could gather.
What do you think?
