Paragon Of Sin

Chapter 1758: As Things Go

Chapter 1758: As Things Go

Wei Wuyin's perspective and display of his Dao of Alchemy shook the scene for a long while. Not everyone present were alchemists. The majority of those present were true-blue cultivators pursuing the martial path to acquire greater strength and higher authority. However, as natives of the Utmost Purity Galaxy, they understood the basics of alchemy.

"What a revolutionary path!" An aged figure exclaimed with wonder and awe. This person had given up his seat of honor to Wei Wuyin on Shang Liu's request, carrying the second highest seniority in the Knightly Dao Pavilion, living for 54,000 years as an Original Magistrate, and similarly a great instructor of top-tier students. After speaking, he unleashed a bout of violent coughing.

"Grand Instructor Yan!" A few concerned students were worried about his declining condition, but he waved them away as his gaze never left Wei Wuyin. Yan Luoyang refused any help as he stood up and clasped his hands toward Wei Wuyin. "I am honored to have witnessed such depth of the alchemy and its limitless potential, to know the Dao." His words contained great strength and energy as he gazed intently at Wei Wuyin.

"..."

Shang Liu stayed silent as he observed his oldest living friend in the pavilion. He was slightly apologetic regarding removing him from the seat of honor, but seeing his brilliant set of eyes, he knew that his decision was right. Yan Luoyang was an alchemist, and he had been stuck as a Senior Earthly Saint Alchemist for tens of thousands of years, unable to make any progress, yet from his energetic aura, he could tell he was deeply inspired. If he tried now, he should be able to take a step further on the path of the Dao of Alchemy.

Unfortunately, for some, to know of the Dao by night… they would perish by morning.

Before the emotional crowd, Yan Luoyang's vitality dispersed. His soulspan and lifespan simultaneously concluded.

"..."

He stood with his hands clasped and his spine straight. There was nothing else. The crowd witnessed with their own eyes the end of a legend. A few of the students whom he had taught and nurtured began to shed rivers of tears that flowed onto the ground without end.

Wei Wuyin couldn't help but be a little surprised by this development. He had never seen someone experience exhaustion of their lifespan and soulspan, and he hadn't expected it to be so silent when occurring.

Shang Liu rose from his seat and slowly walked toward his deceased friend. Each step felt heavy, impressing upon the heart and soul the depth of his feelings for Yan Luoyang. Moreover, there was a growing sense of gloom. They all understood that Shang Liu was similarly reaching the end of his lifespan. While he still had an expected twenty or so thousand years left, very few cultivators lived until the end of their soulspan.

Shang Liu carefully brought out a blackwood coffin with etchings of various runes and characters. The runes were infused with the powers of preservation and permanence, while the characters at the sides of the coffin and on its lid detailed the life of Yan Luoyang. When he placed Yan Luoyang into the coffin, the sound of crying stopped as they all began to pay their final respects.

Unexpectedly, a funeral was being held during this trifecta event.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Wei Wuyin didn't know much about Yan Luoyang, but seeing how heartfelt the emotions of everyone were, and how incredibly genuine their sadness was, he knew this man was a beloved figure. He paid his final respects and offered condolences to Shang Liu. Wei Wuyin never had a formal master, but his older brother always acted as his teacher of cultivation, principles, and morals, and he understood how it felt to lose someone who had taught you with all their heart.

No one felt that performing a funeral was incorrect or inappropriate. Cultivation was difficult, and countless cultivators sought to pursue greater strength for the sake of longevity, but what they pursued and prayed for was true immortality. The impromptu funeral took two hours to complete, with heartfelt words exchanged and further tears shed.

Shang Liu sat next to Wei Wuyin. "Thank you," he honestly said. "Old Yan was genuinely happy to be enlightened in his final moments, and if not for you, he might have died with regret in his heart and confusion of the soul."

Wei Wuyin slightly nodded, not saying anything else on the topic. Eventually, the preliminary beginnings of the event resumed, but the time for questions and inquiries had passed. However, Sage Moonrise and the others were still missing alongside Shang Wanqing. This made it a little awkward.

The first event that was set to begin was the 200,000th birthday celebration, then the wedding ceremony, and finally, the contest to fight for the right to prove themselves worthy of Shang Wanqing. The bride wasn't here either.

Shang Liu made a subtle gesture and a few guards left, including the short-haired woman who was Shang Liu's attendant. They departed silently but with haste. Meanwhile, the panic of the two hidden Sages was becoming increasingly apparent, especially the Sage who knew his disguise was exposed. He was unaware if Wei Wuyin had informed Shang Liu or not, so they were especially tense.

While they didn't fear Shang Liu himself, the three Sages by his side were a problematic variable. They held back the urge to act prematurely. After all, their target wasn't present. They silently cursed Wei Wuyin. Why was a Supreme Sage trying to act when the prophecy was widely circulated? Did he not fear the arrival of calamity?!

Their tension was on the verge of reaching an all-time peak. Fortunately, their worries regarding Sage Moonrise protecting the target were soon settled! A group of females entered the main hall all at once! When the door opened, the gazes of everyone moved. Then, whether male or female, they were all shaken to their core!

Yue Songli!

Qing Qiumu!

Cao Cuifen!

Sui Yuan!

Yue Songli's beauty was thought-seizing and color-stealing, while her body was capable of igniting the fire of any man. Just the way her robes hugged her gargantuan twin peaks, forming a shapely curve to her figure, and accented her explosively bombastic body was enough to send the men present spiraling with disbelief.

Qing Qiumu's beauty was warm, capable of inspiring serenity, just looking at her calmed one's mind as their heart refused to stop racing, and her unique features of sharp-tipped ears and aura of natural essence were undoubtedly unique across the galaxy.

Cao Cuifen walked forward with a limitless confidence that generated an extraordinary bearing, and while she wasn't as outrageous as Yue Songli or as uniquely natural as Qing Qiumu, she carried her own charm that was impossible to dismiss.

But the most shocking person was none other than Xi Ning! Her violet hair had been cut a little at the bottom and braided thickly to the point it reached her ankles, while her hair was styled with layered bangs. She was dressed in a fairly modest outfit, yet it did little to hide her seductive figure, and only inspired curiosity.

Quite a few cultivators present recognized Xi Ning, and they were stunned by her appearance given that she was dead for eight thousand years! Moreover, her cultivation base had miraculously returned to the Soul of Mysticism Phase, a sign of her cultivation being restored bit by bit.

"Xi Ning!" A middle-aged woman exclaimed. She was also at the Earthly Saint Phase, and her cultivation had stagnated for a long, long while, and had been an Earthly Saint for more than 10,000 years.

Xi Ning looked at the woman and recognized her as Fei Zhenya. They had often performed missions together, fought against enemies and for opportunities, and they were almost as close as sisters. She was taken aback by Fei Zhenya's presence, and her heart grew emotional. The once youthful-looking Fei Zhenya had become middle-aged, unwilling to expend her vitality or cultivation to maintain her youth, yet unable to take a single step further on the path of cultivation.

She had the urge to catch up, but after a moment of hesitation, she only greeted with a smile and a friendly wave before following Cao Cuifen and the others to sit on the fourth level. Normally, as wives or spouses, they would be forced to sit a level beneath Wei Wuyin, but Shang Liu had long since factored in their presence and had them all sit on the fourth level. This was a move to further get into Wei Wuyin's good graces and undo his past mistakes of offense.

Now that everyone except Shang Wanqing was here, Shang Liu rose from his seat. "I would like to thank everyone for coming today to celebrate my 200,000th birth year. I've lived a long life, and my greatest achievement has been building and maintaining the Knightly Dao Pavilion."

The first of the three events had started!
